Sorry for the delay in updating thread, the lack of access with iPhone and iPad has been disconcerting.

Now it's getting critical mass numbers-wise. admin & every Mod apart from NM (who I know can't make it) - not a bad turn out so far. Surely there are more MEL-based AFF'ers...
Or wannabe MEL based AFFers!

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm flying to BNE on the Friday but should be in town for the 23rd.

I should be able to make it, but things aren't as flexible for me at the moment. If it was in the CBD it would make it much easier for me to attend. So maybe a Gold?

So am I - QF632 at 6.05pm - do we cross paths??

We are looking at close to CBD, nearer Docklands, but it's still TBA.

Sadly will be in London so cant but wanted to :D

Hoping to confirm for the Yum Cha this evening once Mrs Ansett Gives me permission. Think I have grovelled enough LOL :D

Just bring her to Yum Cha?

Wouldnt think of going with out her :D Just I will be away a few days later and she has and is studying like Mad for CPA and tax Agents License and its hard to get time off :D

I want to come but don't know if I can fit it in with family committments. I'd be interested in knowing location and time once you confirm it. I won't be able to figure things out one way or the other. Just north of the CBD would work better for me but I still couldn't make any promises.

Updated to here.

Regarding the venue, I'm looking for ideas which might suit the majority (not too pricey, plenty of availability [seating], ease of access). I have a Myki and can travel anywhere, but others may need to drive. Not sure there is any easy answer to this conundrum...

Southbank is usually pretty good as it's walkable from HSW and easily drivable as well.

You missed me :p

In recent years Southbank and Chinatown have been popular as there are numerous venues capable of accommodating a larger group with a reasonable price tag. They are both also reasonably accessible via public transport, foot and car (sort of). There are also numerous venues in the city proper which can also accommodate a larger group.

As an aside I want to go back to Sichuan House, but I fear that may be torture to some here, so will save that until the chilli-hunters return (awilcockson, et al).

Also, we never did have that all-you-can-eat wings night... *plots another event*

The 3 venues we have had in recent times have all be fine by me.

  • Blue Train
  • Bear Brass
  • World Bar

I think the main thing with Blue Train is to let them know that we like to drink and gasbag, so don't book the table for a sitting after us...

I repeated that several times over numerous calls, and they still had to do a table shuffle when I arrived....

You succeeded in the end :)

Maybe you can coach QF WP for the numerous calls he will need to make ;)

Took a bit but we got there. Apparently "high level frequent fliers travelling in from around the country to drink a lot" wasn't a strong enough explanation :p
