I'm working in MEL now, but still need to work out the best way to get from Williamstown into the CBD by public transport.

Train from either Williamstown Beach Station or Williamstown Station into Flinders St Station and then walk across one of the bridges to Southgate.

Alternatively, the Williamstown Ferry from Williamstown to Southgate, but that costs $18 one way.

Put me down as Gold.

A train from Williamstown, Williamstown Beach, North Williamstown or Newport (all on the Williamstown line) would probably be the easiest. All these stations are in Zone 1.

(assuming that you are close enough to any of these stations?)

haha... great minds...

I would take the train, the ferry isn't particularly frequent and is more of a tourist device rather than actual public transport.

Thanks penegal, I'll try the train. I'm staying in an apartment on Ferguson street so easy walking distance to Williamstown Beach or North.

Was there ever a final decision on venue and did anyone think to book?

Paging QF WP to the white courtesy phone... but I haven't seen anything to that effect?

We're at 17 Platinums and 7 Golds, plus any Silvers that can make it, how many places can effectively handle a group of two dozen or more?

I'm leaving Woodgate Beach tomorrow morning and driving home, to then pick up my pre-packed luggage and head to BNE for my 4pm flight to MEL.

penegal has been in touch with me today, echoing straitman's concern about venue.

I've given him the green light to organise the venue - I presume Blue Train sounds like it can handle it. I'll be in touch tomorrow afternoon to see what's happened.

If it's not too late to join the party then I'm in.
Will be nice to meet some AFFers and have a few drinks after work.

Booking has been made for 20 people for 7.30pm. I will confirm with Blue Train Wednesday PM so please let me know before then if you'd like to upgrade to platinum.

Thanks blackcat20!

List me as coming... I suspect the numbers may be closer to 25+ on the day ;)

I have a colleague who may join me (TBC)...

I owe you first drink blackcat20 :D

Now happily in MEL after a long day driving and flying and ensconced in HSW. Love the Relaxation Suite ;)
