The Olive Tree is a gazillion miles away from Southern Cross!!
How about we keep it close to the trains for the outer-suburban commuters?? I think this is why we like the Southbank options..
Sir Cruisealot.. how about you move yourself a little closer to the river..
Steady are you Skybussing to the CBD?

Agree, locations on Southbank are much easier for all involved.

How about The Meat and Wine Co?
I haven't been there but the Southbank one has the Dimmi award for parties and groups (how could we resist ;) ) and satisfies our southbank and steak desires??
Home - The Meat & Wine Co
Let me know if you would like me to contact them and ask for more info?

Forget it.. our good friends at Dimmi have shown no availability for Saturday 5th :(

How about...
Steakhouse Home
There's a set menu with steak for $55 per head..
Let me know if you want me to see if we can organise a group deal... or go back to my place in happy ignorance :)
P.S. Does have space for 10 that night...

I'm visiting Melbourne that weekend but might be doing something with a friend, but if not could maybe work out where something may be happening??

I am happy with Southbank - easier for me to get to - but somewhere decent would be good.

I agree that Southbank is a convenient location, but I share Cruiser's concern that a number of the places are somewhat average (and we have done them a lot before). That said, I am usually happy to go to cheaper places as that allows more of our AFF community to come along.

FWIW, Anywhere in the CBD and immediate CBD fringe should be easy for most people given free trams.

Uppy - I enjoy both places, but my preference would be al a carte if we go to the Mitre steakhouse.

Ah huh - there must be a decent Italian place bottom end CBD? Anybody got any clues? IMHO Southbank restaurants over rated and overpriced for what they are - the crowds gravitate there as it is a tourist / entertainment hotspot.

I know I know!! The wine bar under the westin??
By the way I can pick steady up from the airport and (dis)prove all those rumours about my car if that helps ;) :)

Any good?

I've never been there, but know a bunch of artsy types who have been known to hang out there.

Wait? You drive?

I hope you weren't driving in Perth that time...
