13th just arrived. Brisbane we have to do better.

P.S. It's a good night, lots of socializing (except when I'm typing this). When AFF Sydney comes along it's gonna be awesome.

Sorry it was just a quick visit guys..tough one though - been away from home for a week. So it was either drink with you guys (who are most understanding), or get home to the mrs.....hmm hard choice.

Cheers, and drink up!

I'm with you guys in spirit - currently in one of the pubs near where I live, watching the Ashes and drinking Stella.

Have a great night.

Have a good night everyone; sounds like there is a group of 12, looks like its bigger than a Brisbane AFF drinks night.
Hmm.... That is not fair. Melbourne is 4 times the size of Brisbane and we had 9 at the last drinks outing in Brisbane. I think Melbourne needs to go a long way before it even gets remotely close to Brisbane drinks nights....

Yes my friend, you are right - however, as you well know, us members of the PRV (Peoples Republic of Victoria) are far more sophisticated and charming than most of the State of Banana, therefore even a smallish group of say me, notzac and QF009 or Serfty, tuapekastar and wallacej would suffice as a larger meeting than any held in the State of Banana...

;)  :)

[avoid banana thrown by JK]

After all the BS... we all had a good night - its a shame you were not there JK - I'll try and catch up next week for a beer if you are in the usual place, I'll stay at the hotel 2 doors down Wednesday night if plans go well

I'll post some incriminating photos soon from last nights efforts - great to meet you all and kudos Sam for organising the event!

Mr! (& Mrs!)

:)

Gee, that was around midday for you! Alco! ;)

I too was drinking Stella last night, and when I left the party they told me to take it with me rather than leave it as they didn't want it!

Hardly a reasonable comparison to compare one night in MEL against a series of nights BNE.

In any case, by comparing in this way it is possible to get incorrect and inappropriate outcomes in either direction.

IF the comparison is to be made though the numbers should be compared correctly. Melbourne population (est) in 2008 was 3,892,419 and Brisbane 1,945,639 or a 2:1 ratio. Over all Victoria has only 1M people more than Queensland. If you just compare Brisbane City (1,000,000) with Melbourne City (90,000) then Brisbane has an 11 times greater population than Melbourne.

I like your work straitman! :D

Had a very pleasant evening, and was good to catch up with people I knew, and meet people I didn't. Have to admit I was dog-tired and could not even contemplate kicking on at 1806 - to those who did hope you survived it!

Thanks to Sam for kicking it off...looking forward to the next one.

Yes, thanks to samh004 for being the catalyst for last night.

I Woke up a little worse for wear this morning and could have done with another hours sleep.

Anyway, back at the airport now - awaiting my chariot to SYD then on to AKL.

Ahh yes, that was mentioned....

Have a good flight

Mr!

I sense jealousy!
Why are you jealous?

The Brisbane drinks nights have been going on for over a year and this was the first official Melbourne drinks night. Who cares which event attracts more people as long as the people attending enjoy themselves. Anyway time for me to get out of this thread before I get criticised further....

No criticism, just setting the facts straight from what you said.

My head's still throbbing..............:shock::D

Thanks everybody for an awesome night, it was bloody fantastic!

And I've just realised that, apart from my round of martinis, I left 1806 without contributing to the final tab. First round or 3 on me next drinks or in Sydney, whichever comes first! :)

Thanks to all who attended, I had a good time. It was great to meet everyone and match names and faces to their respective AFF handles. Also good to learn the origins of some of the more creative usernames.

Yesterday turned into quite a bender for me. I started with a liquid lunch at work around 2pm, and the latest credit card reciept from 1806 has a 00:54 timestamp. Naturally, today has been a quiet one.

It's all good. Do we have a date for the next Melbourne drinks event?

Judging by reciepts I think I just put it on my card.

Anyway, back at the airport now - awaiting my chariot to SYD then on to AKL.

How did everything go with the Essendon bus?
Is it a viable alternative to Skybus?

Good to meet faces/handles have met before new faces/handles. The champagne by QF009, as photo above, was enjoyed by all. Distinctly remember be told by SERFTY he had a 19:30 train to catch. Melb trains must have run late again  Hope samh004 got back safely to QLD after his night at the Airport
..... this was the first official Melbourne drinks night....
We have met for a drink at least twice before, both with ADMIN in attendance (Chloe's bar & Hol Inn IIRC). Been a few other FT drinks including with Randy.
