THanks for the support everyone - a great night out spread across 4 locations. In summary:
Lagerfield - Our interstate guests beat the locals to the bar. That proves beyond doubt what we always thought about Western Australians
nlagalle dropped in with his daughter on their way home from the footy, and by the time 1800 had com and gone, we had 14 people ready for round 1 of dinner.
Quanjude - As the reviews had said (that I had read) the food was brilliant, the service, well lets just say ordinary. A very rude waiter who one of our quieter members was considering throwing his prada shoe at!
I personally thought that the Peking Duck was the best I had had, done in a true Bejing style that wasnt greasy and literally melted in your mouth. On top of that, the duck was cut by the chef at the table, so we saw exactly what we were getting - -very professional and I will return to this restaurant again - just avoiding Xi'ini "Grumpy" Shu
Out the restaurant after the bill was settled and some walked, the smart ones trammed to Rydges for the next round.
Serfty, Mrs Serfty and others were waiting patiently for our arrival and had enjoyed a refreshing beverage in the interim, so were quite happy to get the food part underway. The set course menus came out and the eating began.
Again I was impressed with the quality of the Rydges food - my steak, Mrs munitalPs steak were perfectly cooked, other food I saw looked excellent and I never actually saw anyone complaining about quality.
The Rydges platinum card has a 10 person limit we found out early in the evening - this was confirmed by looking up the fine print on the interweb - so, without even a stumble in the proceedings, drinks were bought direct from the bar while swiping the platinum card - everyone got 50% of drinks, then when paying the final account without drinks added, 10 people got the 50% discount, the other 7 didn't, then we simply added the 2 separate table dockets together and divided equally - about 35% discount was enjoyed by all on food - worked well in my humble opinion.
18o6 - After saying goodbye to a few, 18o6 had been holding a table for us (QF009 had been getting a number of calls from them - "where are you!") and we headed across the road for night caps.
I indulged in Mojito's - my norm at 18o6, the selection of coughtails on the table being consumed (I didn't say drunk because it may have been confused with the general condition of the AFFer's at the table) was impressive, a bottle of bubbles, and before long, I was bidding farewell to my AFF friends and SWMBO and I wandered off into the dark in search of the Sofitel
Thanks to everyone who came - it was great meeting the new faces, good catching up with the rest and can't wait for the next time.
