An idea for the venue:
Miss Libertine

Located near the corner of Elizabeth and Franklin Streets, and a short walk to the train at Melbourne Central. :)

I think this would be a great starter place before we kick off elsewhere (i promise not to end up in 1806 for a change :p). Reasonably priced beer, an awesome wine list (they have Ninth Island pinot noir :D), not sure about the gin though. ;) The meals are also pretty decent.

Although primarily a live music venue, the bands don't start till much later in the evening and in any case they play in a seperate room from the main bar.

However, I will be in the Hilton South Wharf executive lounge that evening ...

Ooh that's a v nice one. With a cool balcony bit.

I also like the bar at the Hilton South Wharf, but it's rather expensive. Eg $22 for a coughtail when the average cost around good coughtail bars in the city (incl those in hotels) are around the $15 mark.

... the $15 mark.
 I knew there's a reason I don't purchase coughtails over the jump.

I think the dry Martini I made myself last Sunday cost me ~90¢ (Constucted with duty free Bombay Sapphire& Martini vermouth)

Sadly I've yet to make a good mojito for myself despite heaps of practise.:mrgreen:

We did make a v nice Mango fizz martini over the weekend, based on grey goose citron and topped with Moet 2000. :D

Yes but QF009 - drinking Mojito's does not count as practise... ;)

I mean I've actually tried making them. :p Got what's meant to be a killer and idiot-proof recipe from a mate too. He still seems to make them heaps better than I do...:-|

Mmmm... *memories of Mongolian mojito at Spice Market*.

Count me in i'll come along for ****s and giggles:)

Random suggestion (around the same area):

Welcome to Madame Brussels

It's a bit different but nice outdoor area.

I'll be along regardless of where though so long as the booze is flowing freely :D

Love that place, though haven't been for a while. If the weather is anything like the past day or 3, the terrace area won't really work though. :-|

I think Madame Brussels might be more central given it's on Bourke St and hence better for kicking on to other venues later in the evening, whereas Miss Libertines is somewhat northish.

All ideas on venue v much appreciated. :)

Crofts is great, however have to make it there before 2200 to avoid the cover charge. Unless people don't mind paying $5 to get in.

misty looks v nice! (you have to click on 'press' and go through the reviews to get more of an idea) Mmmm tart mojitos...

I was also thinking of Seamstress as a good starter place or afterbar, seeing as they've also got something for everyone in terms of good (and reasonably priced) beers, wine and coughtails:

BTW i'm thinking we really need to get both the +1s AFF handles lol. They seem to come to most if not every event, and I know the other half lurks on here occassionally.

Put me as maybe, I have this sneaking suspicion that I won't be in Melbourne, but I can't find any PNRs suggesting otherwise in my email, so stay tuned for more details...

I might be able to pop in for a quick couple of drinks. Will see what i have on..
