Hi folks

a friend who's lucky enough to be flying to Vancouver just asked me "If I can't go Qantas, what is the best option?" - he then added that he hates United, so that rules that out.

Any suggestions about which airline is the nicest, bearing in mind the length of travel and the number of stops.

I think he has to fly economy.

TIA! :)

Air Canada

Sydney to Vancouver, their product even in Econony is fine

MEL-SYD, I think Qantas is still a "partner" of Air Canada so you can be ticketed on the one ticket, however from memory the baggage allowance will be the standard Qantas allowance.

Definitely Air Canada. You won't have to touch US soil and therefore get visa's, etc, and its a direct flight. However, Air Canada know they have the advantage so charge more for the air fare. The other option is go via Tokyo with JAL.

I don't think Qantas is a partner of Air Canada - both are part of different alliances (Qantas - oneworld, Air Canada - Star Alliance).

I forgot to mention - Air NZ via Auckland is also an option, and I have heard good stories regarding flight service and baggage allowance.

Also to Seattle and Amtrak train up to Vancouver and back about 3 hours each way.
