Not sure if this bothers anyone else, but the last few times i have been here, a woman has been cleaning the male toilets. Now, she just goes about her busniess, but today i was standing at the urinal and she came and started cleaning the far urinal. I was very uncomfortable and even if she hadn't come close, i have still felt uncomfortable entering and doing my thing. Absolutely certain a male wouldn't be allowed near the female toilets.
am i being precious?
i amgoing to give virgin some feedback on it, but i don't want to get her in trouble.

could you imagine the uproar if a male attendant/cleaner entered the female loos!!!! female loo users would be running to 'today tonight/a current affair'...and the like....so much for equality in the workplace!!... i'd definately bring this to the attention of the powers that be... this woman is just doing what she's told as part of her job description..it's not her fault....

I've been in the ladies at work when workmen have entered. However they made a hasty retreat when they realised I was in there.

i'd imagine so. I am not questioning her professionalism by the way. Just pointing that it makes me feel uncomfortable.

I agree, its not an ideal situation, lets hope it was a one off mistake, but surprised that she herself didn't refuse it.

It isn't a one off. Se has been here proabbly the last 8 times i have. And i am still here and need to go again.

I've always seen them wait till it is empty. Maybe they have a choice.

Heck, it happens in other countries often.

I was there last Sunday, and a chap was changing in front of the sinks, lady in question walks in and cleans. Very uncomfortable for the man changing I would imagine....

This has happened to me a few times, but I didn't feel uncomfortable. In some of the toilets I went into in France and Italy, privacy was not considered important.

I hate to sound like one of those loons off today tonight, but this is Australia. I don't think it's as acceptable here as say France and Italy.

Wonder why he just didn't use the shower? That's private enough!

excuse me?! the number of times that i have been in a bathroom (in Australia) and a male has been cleaning while i've been in there - granted it's not the norm, but it does happen, and to my knowledge there hasn't been any nationally-televised outrage...

of course, you may have meant that in jest, but i felt the need to defend my sex ;)

i do understand why it's more awkward for men using urinals. but if the lounge (and therefore bathroom) is busy and there are only female cleaners on shift, wouldn't it would be difficult to keep the bathroom suitably clean until after peak hours?

The bathrooms at my office get 3 cleans a day. The cleaners just waltz in and start doing their thing.

I don't even notice if a female cleaner enters the male toilets anymore :)
