Men's toilets at MEL Lounge

Wonder why he just didn't use the shower? That's private enough!

haha - you mean the unisex shower rooms that have their own toilets, right? not the *actual* shower?

Edit: just realised you meant the guy was changing, not... well...

Hahaha!! Yes that is what I meant!

Seriously I have noted this on many occasions and it's had me wondering. After a couple of beers, I'm anyones so really no issue for me, but really this is getting close to legalised flashing. Only seems to happen in Melb.

It isn't a one off. Se has been here proabbly the last 8 times i have. And i am still here and need to go again.

Maybe you have caught her eye and she will be 'innocently' trying to synchronise visits from now on??? :)

But yes there is a principal at stake here.... Most of the ladies business would be behind close doors i imagine, where we are out there swinging in the breeze so not particularly comparable... And I don't care what they do in European toilets, or Middle East toilets or frankly toilets out the back blocks of Africa... This what we feel comfortable with by Australian standards and what is good for the goose should be good for the gander so if women would object to male cleaners having the ability to have a glance while they were doing whatever then it should go both ways...

Just coz us guys tend to just put up with things and not make a big issue of it its no reason why we should always get the pointy end of the stick... How many changes did guys in male dominated work places have to make to ensure an environment that was comfortable for females to enter???

Thankyou. This is precisely the point. It makes me uncomfortable. Now, whether it happens in other countries, i don't care. I always abide by the customs of a oreign land when i travel abroad.
the VA rep has PMd me about it, which is a terrific effort so soon.
don't want to make a huge deal out of it, but it really bothered me today.

My naughty thought was that if the lady gets the point that will probably put an end to it.

Doesn't worry me in the least. Sign of the times and it happens just about everywhere else in the world. Was back at my university college a month or two ago. When I was resident there it was all male. Now it is co-ed and they even share bathrooms and toilets. No big deal I'm told.

The bathrooms at my office get 3 cleans a day. The cleaners just waltz in and start doing their thing.

I don't even notice if a female cleaner enters the male toilets anymore :)

We must work at the same campus. :) I was going to say that the cleaners seem to be synchronised with my habits. Usually it is a male+female couple and they first block the entrance with a shoulder-high barrier to stop others from entering. Anyone still inside has to finish their business while the cleaning is going on. I don't mind the female but do mind the timing. :)

I have encountered it overseas but never in Australia.

Normally they will have a sign up saying no entry cleaning in process if there is a member of the opposite sex doing the cleaning.

I don't see what the issue is.

Everyone needs to urinate, and with blokes it's usually at either the trough or individual urinals.

I'm usually there for one purpose only; do the bizz, wash hands, and out.

Im guessing 99.9975℅ of the population have no interest in what I'm doing. That would include cleaning staff.

No, it's happened to me in BNE as well. To be honest, I really only remember because I was having a conversation with her. It was her birthday (cleaning the "Mens" can't be a fun birthday for her) and she commented how nice the VA lounge was as she used to work in the BNE QP. I can certainly recall other times similar to this but they aren't memorable events and it doesn't really bother me. I'd much prefer clean facilities (which means regular cleans) and put up with the cleaners present (ladies or men) than not have the loos cleaned. While on that subject, they wouldn't need cleaning so often if us guys stood a metre closer to the urinal. Some of us must reckon we're capable of a bit more "swinging in the breeze" (as casanovawa puts it) than is really the case, but just manage to leave a puddle on the floor rather than in the urinal!

Happened to me at OOL on Thursday. No big deal, but I did stop in my tracks as I entered and she assured me I was in the correct toilet. She just continued filling up the soap thingies as I went about my business

Honestly, I have no idea what the issue is here. She's not going to look. Most blokes are more than capable of angling their body and using strategic hand placements to block the view as well.

What concerns me more is the puddles on the floor that are an almost constant feature of some lounges. Also the thought that the guy at the next urinal has a good look. I say this just about every girlfriend I've had and there friends have either quizzed me about what I see or the friends have talked about what their boyfriends have seen. They have also been disappointed when I've told them I take a tunnel vision approach.

Has happened to me a few times (BKK and AKL come to mind) and while a tad surprising at first it did not bother me, but I can understand some people being uncomfortable with it. No problems when I'm using the urinal, but OTOH if I was using the coughnal...

That's also what I notice and I must admit to being repulsed by the fact some guys can't manage to get the urinal. Surely they don't do that in their own homes, why then in a toilet facility where others have to also share?

Last time in MEL I conincidentally thought they needed those signs that read "Our aim is to keep these facilities clean. Your aim will help!"

I've seen the female attendant there before too and my guess is that she'd be as uncomfortable and embarrassed working in the men's toilets as its patrons.

My guess is that as far as she's concerned she's not given the option of closing off the toilets for half an hour or whatever so she can see to them. If anyone should be blamed it's not her but her employer who hasn't provided a male attendant for the male toilets.

I was in Melbourne today and didn't see anyone clean the loos. I used to really get put off in Thailand but after it happened a few times, I got over it. One thing I did find funny was going into a toilet in a shopping centre and have young 20 something's come into the men's and use a stall when there was a queue outside the ladies

Why is it ok for a male cleaner to look at your junk, and not ok for a woman cleaner to look. That is sexism and discrimination which is illegal in australia.

This may surprise you, but there are specific exemptions in the some of the anti-discrimination acts regarding cleaning in use lavatories.....
