Malaysia Airlines are again offering very attractive Business Promo Fares.

Examples include:
DPS-KUL return in business for $339;
KUL-HKT return in business for $250;
HKT-HKG return in business for $529.

Fares are valid for bookings made between 13 April and 25 April for travel from 16 April to to 31 August.

Can be useful for OW status runs.
After a succesful try out of MH over Easter I will again be using Virgin to fly to Bali and then fly MH to Kuala Lumpur, coughet and Hong Kong.
Will earn 440 QF status credits for $1118.
Oh and 160 VA status credits as well.

Can you show me your sums on this? I am not clear on the intra-asia status earn since last year's change...eg I flew MH in business KUL-MNL and only received 40SC.

Will look for exHKG fares before month's end. May need to top up SC to get 3 year 1200 average to be comped another year of WP

Thanks for the heads up.

Is there a promo page/link that you saw this on?

Cheers

No, I've just been searching the flights with this in mind since I became aware of a previous promo through this forum earlier this year.
If you start to do a dummy booking you can access a link to the fare rules, which is how I found out the relevant date ranges.
I can't find a page specifically about the business promo fares on their website.
Although the link to "deals of the day" will show results including them for some destinations.

Since another forum member pointed out to me that QF miles are not the actual miles between ports, I have been using the new QF online earn calculator.
This has recently been updated to include partner routes, unlike the old version which only included QF routes.
It even allows you to select the partner airline. (It's not perfect though - it has entries for first on sectors for which first is unavailable.)
Also, I flew DPS-KUL at the beginning of the month so I have received the points and SCs for that flight for confirmation.
Status credits for relevant sectors as follows:

DPS-KUL - 60
KUL-HKT - 40
KUL-BKK - 40
KUL-HKG - 80

Mind you it shows KUL-MNL as earning 80 in business so I'm not sure why you would only have received 40.
At 1938 miles (according to QF) the sector falls into the 1,501-2500 category which confirms the 80 status credits according to the tables.

Can people still see these fares? I was doing some searches this morning, one minute J promos were showing, next minute gone.
Have cleared cache and tried chrome and IE.

There is a 3 day stay rule which is variably enforced. If you select flights too close together the fares can disappear. However it can be gamed a bit through trial and error.

Thanks. I'm looking for a one way which is not happening either. I'll have a play around.

Ah that seems to vary too. I did fly one way DPS-KUL on a business promo fare last month though. That was $234 so a little more than half return. Good luck!

Just to update I just made two bookings using these fares. A total of 8 flights in 8 days to earn 440 QF status credits for $1200.
Together with the $1094 return fare to Bali to access the MH network relatively cheaply, earning another 160 status credits with VA.
I could have done it for slightly less but I chose convenient times to spend a layover with a friend in KL, and avoided booking sectors separately when there was a tight connection time.

This is strange. Absolutely can not get the business promo fares to show, tried on Windows IE and Chrome. And Mac, Safari and firefox. Tried various expedias, google flights. Stumped.

Have you tried directly on the MH website?
Feel free to reply or PM me with the flights you want and I'll try looking for them.

Looking at another thread, are you trying to book flights EX KL? KUL-SIN perhaps? The fares don't seem to be offered ex KL. I can find them SIN-KUL return but not KUL-SIN return.

Yes, that is what I'm trying to find. The promo fare was there on Tuesday when you posted this. Looks like I snoozed.

Thanks for this - the calculator wasn't live when I was researching earlier in the year.

Spoke to QF who showed me they corrected the mistake by adding another 40SCs a few weeks later so all is good. Silly that one receives the same amount of SCs for KUL-MNL as KUL-CDG!!

Don't take everything you read on AFF as gospel.

I have a 3 year average of 2,000 SCs and sitting on 1,130 SCs with 6 weeks to go. Guess what?

Any comp I've had has been 3-4wks out - thrice in situations where I made it anyhow

The 2 comps I had were both ~8 weeks before reassessment date.

I don't need a comp. Nor am I relying on getting a comp. I will make it in my own right.

Are these fares coming and going? I thought I saw BKK-SIN for THB4500 2 weeks ago. It now seems to be about THB9000.
