Saw a thread elsewhere speculating that MH will cease BNE operation in early August.

MH booking engine seems to confirm this:

Has been confirmed along with the following changes:

KUL-BNE: Route axed from 09AUG
KUL-MLE: Route axed from 23AUG
KUL-PER: MH126/MH127 will be axed, MH124/125 will remain unchanged at daily

My in-laws will be affected by this. They're flying back to BNE from Europe in September. Haven't received any notifications yet, of course...

The annoucement was only today - I am sure MH is working thru their reservations and making contact with all pax affected, in order of departure.

Yikes hope they dont axe CMB- ive got an award booking in Jan!

I would suggest booking rebooking on another airline as soon as you can. As they start cancelling routes award seats on the flights that are left are going to fill pretty quickly.

Again - and perhaps more pressing than the above... I'd be taking a proactive approach on this one. Don't wait for them to notify you - by the time they do options could be limited or unsuitable.

If it's an Enrich Award on MH only and the route hasn't been cancelled yet, then not a lot that can be done (they won't allow refunds based on speculation alone) as awards are non refundable and moving to another carrier would be a different type of award.

Wife has a Enrich award booking in November 2015 in J to London. I am going to Europe 2 weeks later on SQ.

We are then coming back from Dubai on 1 January on another Enrich award booking in J to Brisbane.

News is devastating! Have no idea what they are going to do with our booking. Are they likely to re route us via Sydney or Melbourne?

I'm meant to be returning from MLE in Dec... Wonder what will happen now?

Might jump on the blower tomorrow and see what they say.

I'm booked using a dividend miles reward J class (pre merge) - will MH rebook me or should I be worried and on the phone to aadvantage now?

MH may allocate you to another of their services, which AA (and you) will accept and then re-ticket accordingly.

However, it's probably unlikely MH will go further than that, and it really depends how MH handles the situation... will they create new award seats out of existing revenue seats to accommodate passengers? Or will they tell you to wait until the next flight with award space? (This is one of the reasons why it's important to act as soon as possible to try and get access to whatever seats you can.) AA will help you move to another airline with award space... but they can't force either MH or any other airline to create awards to cover services MH decides to cancel or reschedule.

This is all new territory for me. If they do not offer flights out of/or into Sydney or Melbourne (which I would accept) or book us on another airline what chance they would transfer the points back into my credit card to book on another carrier?

I expect they'll fly you via Sydney or Melbourne. If you've transferred points to enrich from a credit card and then booked the award there is about zero chance of them reversing the transfer from your credit card.

Considering the new mh ceo recently mentioned that they would cooperate more with OW partners in areas which they don't fly I wonder if QF will start a BNE-KUL or add KUL as a tag flight to their SIN service with mh codeshare.. wishful thinking? ;-)

Well considering inside sources citing MH's BNE services has been loss making and unprofitable for quite some time now (apparently 2nd most unprofitable route), I doubt QF would perform any better on the route, premium demand isn't quite there to entice QF. Any tag flight in Asia would be costly, you can still connect onwards to MH from SIN if you wish.

FYI, A few years back someone I know had a redemption booking booked to Rome, MH then cancelled that route and flew them to London and then BA to Rome all at MH expense

My real dilemma comes from I am booked as a full fare paying J passenger and my partner is on the Dividend Miles J redemption on the exact same flights so we can travel together....

I am thinking of changing his award redemption - then when Malaysia finally gets to me requesting the same flights.... ekkkkkkk
