MHupgrade - can now bid for upgrades before flight

I placed a bit on my return flight from KUL to BKI. I think I did $100 each way and because I got the cheapest fare for both sectors, it worked out almost the same as a standard economy fare. (It was a little more than a I probably should of paid for but it was a little treat for myself). I got both upgrades and I enjoyed it. Lounge access for breakfast (Early morning flights) was great since I don't have OW Emerald or Sapphire yet.

Upcoming bid for SYD to KUL at $260 was successful! :D
Informed by email at T-44.

Last week I flew SYD - KUL - SYD and bid $400 AUD each way, sale Y to J...both bids were successful.

Going up plenty of J seats available...coming back pretty full.

Allocated 1st row of J seating...nice.

Bit of a bun fight getting on board coming back from KUL...seems the space available at the gate seating is inadequate!

Hi MH_fan.

Any idea how many seats were still available?

I put in a $400 bid for BNE-KUL because there wasn't many seats available. But maybe I should have gone lower - will check it out closer to T96 or something I guess!

I think there are still quite a few seats available. Still quite a bit of inventory left and seat map is only half full at this stage. Lots of inventory left (even in the low fare buckets) in Y as well.

My return flight will be interesting. Completely sold out in Y and discount J fare buckets all gone. Only full J fares left but there are at least 9 seats left at this stage. I've bid a bit more than the minimum bid. Fingers crossed.

OTOH, the MH 737s only have Y and J. The difference in the earning fare for the Y cabin and the Z biz class fare on BKK-KUL-CMB made it worthwhile to just pay the difference.

Maybe I should gamble with the (really) cheaper fares more often.

Happy wandering

Fred

Another successful bid! This time, I bid $310 (minimum was $260) for a KUL-SYD flight. Informed by email at T-57. Y inventory completely sold out about 1 week out from departure. Cheaper J fare buckets all gone about a week out too. That's why I decided to bid above minimum, especially since it's an overnight flight. So glad I did. J cabin about half sold prior to the T-72 cut off time.

Just recieved confirmation at T52 of successful upgrade bid $200 for SYD KUL...thanks Malaysia Airlines. Was booked as deep discount fare too on Cheap tickets!

Are QFF SCs earnt on original booking class, or on J if bid is successful?

Original booking class. Business upgrade books into I class which generates no SC's

Original booking class. Business upgrade books into I class which generates no SC's
To be precise, you do earn points and status credits when you purchase a business fare outright that books directly into I class. It is only if as a result of a successful MHupgrade bid that your ticket is reissued in I class that the earn rate reverts to the original booking class.

Anyhow bid just above minima (A$255-A$1000+) for SYD-KUL and it came through at A$260 for the late night MH140.
Still have another bid in the wind for my connection flight.\

And a couple of hours later A$90 (range was A$65-200) for KUL-HAN (Y was totally packed)...

So all-in have paid just over $800 for SYD-KUL-HAN in J - pretty happy with that.

Bid of AUD$330 (min bid AU$255) successful at T-62 for MH142 SYD-KUL. When I checked at T-72 there were only three seats taken in J so I was optimistic about my bid being accepted.

Hoping when I wake up in the morning I'll find an email saying my bid of AU$80 (min $80) for my onward KUL-SGN flight was also successful :D

Have also bid $80 BKK-KUL and $330 KUL-SYD on my return flight in a few weeks. Fingers crossed, as KUL-SYD is overnight and I'm heading straight into work afterwards. Might up my bid if it starts filling up before T-72.

Good news - The Tumi kit bags are quite cool (the contents meh). Front row in MH J has acres of room.

But when stock runs outs are being replaced with Porsche design bags. Not so good news. Already have been replaced on A380s.

Ooh, I hadn't even thought about the amenity bags. I hope I get a Tumi one, just for the Clarins products :) Although the Acca Kappa ones in the Porsche kit are probably ok too (I'm guessing they're the same kits as Turkish Airlines).

KUL-SGN at $80 (minimum bid) successful at T-54. Looking forward to checking out the Golden Lounge at KLIA.
