The NVGs don't provide true colour vision, but the CRJ pilots probably did not use them. Colour vision issues in humans are complex and can substantially impact vision. Some modern systems, like specific digital night vision devices, use advanced image processing to simulate colour. These devices often combine low-light sensors with infrared illumination and apply algorithms to approximate colours, though the result is not valid for colour vision.

Not regular airlines - the Blackhawk helo pilot in this incident was reported to be wearing NVG's - I'm not sure how much help they would be though in low altitude in the middle of DC - given the loss of peripheral vision they might have been more of a hindrance than a help.

Yea, but that's his trademark and a stark contrast to #46.
He gets frequent briefings from NTSB, so he is going to make comments. If he stayed silent he would be criticised for not caring.

I agree, and I prefer frequent, unfiltered briefings. I am adult enough. The families of the helicopter crew do not want their names divulged, and I cannot blame them for that. I want to know if you can blame the Biden administration and the FAA's competency. (YES YOU CAN) I mean, who brought the suspicion on? The Democratic party covered up an incapacitated president—the most essential office in the land. It was deliberately compromised. So why should we not worry about every single institution underneath that? They were so cavalier about the President of the USA that there was a crisis of competence. (the debate confirmed it). There was a guy in charge of nuclear energy who was a kleptomaniac fetishist. There was no one at the wheel. (Many vacancies at the FAA) So, bring on the realignment and common sense again. The 46th president wouldn't even be there.
