Missing base points and random other points

Thx. Just don't know if it will work for me as I have a 19 month old now....

Sometimes this earning points business is too confusing.

Does anyone remember what the MYWAY PREFERENCES BONUS OPTION was back in January? Has not been credited since. Was this a specific promotion or something that should happen based on preference settings?

Yes it is confusing.

The changes to the HH programme included MYWAY changes (I believe) and the 1000 points only started to be applied to my account from March (it wasn't credited for Jan or Feb stays in my account), but it also depends on the hotel brand. Conrad, Double Tree and Hilton is 1000 per stay (regardless of MYWAY preferences), but it can drop down to 100 points OR a bottle of water and a snack at Home 2 Suites. This is different to the 5 bonus points per US$ credited if you have MYWAY points + points selected for your double dip option.

It displays as this example in my account:
DIAMOND MYWAY BONUS - HILTON SYDNEY - 1,000

I've found these emails John, that seem to suggest in Oct '11, that the diamond bonus was 50% of base points without the points + points MYWAY option available.... and then in Jan '12 it looks like double dip was introduced and then sometime after that, the 1000 point MYWAY bonus as mentioned above. At least that's the best I can piece together......which may be entirely wrong as well!

Thanks for the information.

For my January stays there was both

a DIAMOND MYWAY BONUS
and a MYWAY PREFERENCE BONUS OPTION

which has since disappeared. Perhaps there was a transition period. Perhaps I should not have got both back in January.

I had best shut up for now....

How long for Sydney Hilton points to show?? It has been 2 weeks now??

Want to book a reward night......

Mine normally show within a few days of check-out. Never more than 3-4 days after.

A number of my stays have been not showing at Sydney even after 2 weeks. The HHonors T&Cs say allow 10 days - so I would be following up if it's 2 weeks since the stay.

I think the main risk of incorrect points is when booking multiple rooms or the room in multiple books over a single stay. My stays in Kuching and singapore both posted incorrectly, but were fixed within 48hrs of a short email explaining the situation.

Once a stay posted as 3 stays because I had booked the room in 3 separate transaction, once the points posted higher than I expected and twice they posted significantly lower, out of 4 multi-transaction bookings so far.

Yep I agree with you there. 3 times over the last 2 months I have had to email due to 2 separate reservations during the same stay. Though they were linked upon check in, the system tends to give points for the 2nd night and not the 1st (go figure!).
Within 24 hours of an email being sent explaining the situation, the points were credited immediately....I've always received excellent service via email

Also had a minor problem where I booked two consecutive stays at a Hilton hotel. Portfolios were merged, and points credited incorrectly.
Sent a claim to Hilton where the matter was dealt with amazingly promptly, and most courteously. Most impressed.

Could I trouble you for the email address please (or just a decription of how to find it) as I have had a number of stays at the Narita and Adelaide Hiltons that were not credited, and would like to follow up.

Thanks.

I seem to be having a consistent problem wiith Hilton Sydney. I think what's happening is that I do prepaid rates and then apply the Hilton Macquarie Discount, so there is a small credit. I get to the end of the stay, and then the points post with such tiny amounts that I believe that they're picking up the amount of the remaining credit that is left on my account at the end of the stay rather than the actual charges for the stay.

This is what posted:

DIAMOND MYWAY BONUS - HILTON SYDNEY 1,000
2012 Q3 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP SYSTEMWIDE OFFE - HILTON SYDNEY 558
Base Points - HILTON SYDNEY 279
DIAMOND VIP BONUS - 50% 2011 - HILTON SYDNEY 139
QN DOUBLE DIP - HILTON SYDNEY 1,000 QFF Points

I thought I might have to go through the laborious process of contacting the hotel, but I contacted the Diamond line instead - three minutes later, it had posted correctly:

DIAMOND MYWAY BONUS - HILTON SYDNEY 1,000
2012 Q3 TRIPLE YOUR TRIP SYSTEMWIDE OFFE - HILTON SYDNEY 2,782
Base Points - HILTON SYDNEY 1,391
DIAMOND VIP BONUS - 50% 2011 - HILTON SYDNEY 695
QN DOUBLE DIP - HILTON SYDNEY 1,000 QFF Points

I think I will now not even bother with dealing with the hotels for HHonors points problems, and will just go to the Diamond HHonors phone line. Much much easier!

I'm not sure about your other issues, but I totally agree with this statement. HSP stuffed up a booking of mine earlier this year and as a "please accept our apologies" gesture, they upgraded us quite handsomely. Trouble was, I wanted the stay to post more than the upgrade (needed the 4 stays in 6 months to secure diamond for the rest of the year). HH diamond desk understood the issue immediately and applied the stay/nights/points, which the hotel had denied due to what they considered a far better deal. I was never advised by the hotel that they would code the upgrade as a non-earning stay because it was very generous.

Having read the posts here, I thought I better check my account and, guess what, I was missing three stays from last year. So emailed Hilton with the details and was told that as they were 12 months ago, and no record for Adelaide or Sydney could be found, they wouldn't credit me but would grant 500 points for 'inconvenience'. Oh, gee, thanks.

I'm going to dig the Adelaide and Sydney receipts out and pursue them. Too bad about their 12 month rule -- if the oversight is theirs, then they can damn fix it up.

500 points? How generous of them. Another 99 of those super kind gestures and you've got yourself a run-of-the-mill room in Sydney.

That's really quite ordinary of them to upgrade you and then mark it as an non-earning stay. One hand giveth, the other taketh away...
