Some members show wealth of cards with their identity and I wondered which cards are the most desirable. I began looking up Hertz Gold, as an example. Obviously, the replies will be very subjective but I thought this may be a good opportunity to bring to the forum some cards which many, I included, may not have known and prompt us to seek. The cards may be credit (or charge) cards, lounge access cards (priority pass), hotel loyalty cards, club membership cards, etc.

Desirability, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
My most desired card is a Bunnings Gift card!

A card i don;t have is most disireable :)

But for the ones i do have my Amex Platinum Charge card, Intercontinental hotels Platinum Royal Ambassador, Qantas WP cards all rate rather highly.

The only real card that I respect is the Amex Centurion card. (I don't have one)

I've no respect for that card (but that's due to bad experiences with cardholders of said card in a past life, working in hospitality).

Cards that get me stuff I'm quite fond of. QF SG or WP cards are lovely ;) my QF AmEx is good in that it earns me points towards upgrades, it generally "just works" and if it doesn't I can get through to a customer service rep with clue pretty quickly. My gym membership card .. does that count?

Ahh cards - a topic dear to me:

Amex Plat Charge - for the table it got me a Tetsuyas on my wedding anniversary
Hilton Diamond - for the G&T on arrival at the Conrad in HKG
AA EXP - for those f flights from Asia to the USA and the minute steak in the F lounge

And coming soon

the QF WP card.. now what will that get me?

ANZ Platinum Visa - QF points
Woolworths Everyday card - QF integration (coming soon)
WP Card - just because. :)

A quick browse of my wallet reveals:

  • Gloria Jeans Frequent Sipper Club card (4 more coffees until I get a free one)
  • Westfield Gift Card ($40 value remaining)
  • Michel's Patisserie Coffee Club card (5 more coffees until I get a free one)
  • EB Games Edge VIP (gets me 10% off pre-owned games for the kids)
  • Cold Rock Loyalty Card (hmm ready for one free regular ice cream!)
  • RACQ Gold Membership Card (good for discounts and roadside breakdown service)
  • McCafe Chill Loyalty Card (3 more chillers until I get a free one)
  • McCage Loyalty Card (2 more hot drinks until I get one free)
  • 2 x Medicare Cards (gets me free docs appointments)
  • MeatWurx VIP Loyalty Card (5 more $25 purchases until I get $25 of free meat)

The most used of those is probably the Gloria Jeans loyalty card.

2. NAB Gold Debit - used for internet purchases and casino nights (great)
3. ANZ QF'
4. AMEX QF' Ultimate

6. NAB Business Card (pain in the butt)

Hah this seems to have gone from a discussion about desirable cards for the FF to the "post what cards you have in your wallet" thread.

My response was in relation to my most desirable cards, which just happen to be the ones I carry in my wallet :p My GJ's and McCafe cards gets more use than any of the FF or Hotel cards I have. All the one's I mentioned have been used more often than my FF or hotel membership cards so far this year.

Aah, I do the same - 2 wallets: one with cards I use most frequently, including the ubiquitous driver licence, in my trouser pocket; the other with those I don't use so frequently - mostly the hotel loyalty cards and the library card, alongside my passport at home.

Interesting what we get to read on this board. And it's no skin of my nose.

They're all equally desirable to me, it just depends on the circumstances. ;)

If they aren't desirable they wouldn't be sitting in my wallet. I have a plastic folder full of cards I signed up for but don't end up using (eg until v recently when I decided to switch from AAdvantage, my QFF card was one of those). I think the DJ store card will be joining this folder after I cancel it as I no longer use it and perhaps to stop them from pestering me to upgrade to the DJ AMEX, will try to remember to use Myer One when I do shop there.

I like the design on my current card, has a nice pic of the W Maldives and the ocean on it. :)
