Multiple entries to SIN in short period

Wasn't aware of that, but good to know. However, that says "Check-in opens 6 hours before departure until 45 mins prior to each flight departure". Doesn't that mean it opens at about 3pm for QF36? Or in practice can you check in for any flight at any time?

It opens at 10AM.

The transit hotel option is looking more and more likely to save hassle and embarrassment for me!

Early check-in for QF operates from 10 am to 3 pm in SIN, after which the QF check-in opens:
Early Check-in - Changi Airport

It opens at 10AM.

Ok, my question was just prompted by the statement pasted from the QF site above that "Check-in opens 6 hours before departure until 45 mins prior to each flight departure". I now assume that just relates to standard check-in, but you can actually use early check-in at any time from 10am onwards. Which makes the "6 hours before departure" statement a bit pointless really!

Also, bizarrely, according to the QF website, early check-in stays open until 5pm, which is well within 6 hours of their last departure . Anyway, sorry if this turned out to be a red herring, I just raised it as I thought it might be a problem.

This may be a legacy from the previous late night services, eg QF1/9 (to LHR), QF5 (to FRA), QF72 (to PER) etc?

Last time she came to AUS we organised Meet and assist, but found it to be very unreliable outside australia, she pretty much got no more help than a normal passenger, 'basically just a finger point in that direction for her next boarding gate' she ended up getting lost in Changi, and only when she saw someone from her previous flight she asked them for directions to the next gate.

However when she arrived in MEL the QF FA's were fantastic and walked with her thru immigration, filled her card out for her, helped her get her baggage and then pushed the trolley for her out thru arrivals hall. But in her home port and in transit in SIN, they don't care unless you're wheelchair bound.
Interesting comments, as Singapore Airport services run an absolutely brilliant meet & greet service from the gate, through immigration and out the door. I would certainly look at this.

But remember she is in transit from one destination through SIN to MEL so they're not to know she wants to leave the airport. QF only adds 'a note' to the booking that meet and assist is required but the actual delivery of this service except for by QF staff directly seems whoeful outside of AUST.

Straitman is not talking about Qantas:

Passenger Meeting Services - Changi Airport

Hi All,

Transiting through SIN back to MEL in a couple of weeks.

Will arrive in SIN from HKG on a thursday evening so will enter SIN stay overnight next day will early checkin go thru immigration airside wait for my relative to arrive from another destination around 10am, then take them to the lounge for some food and shower. Then I want to exit the airport again for around 10-11 hours to go on a SIN tour before both of us take the QF36 to MEL in the evening.
Question is has anyone here done multiple entries and exits in SIN without any problems? (I am on AUST passport).

Any experiences welcome!
As has been said Chaingi is good but there is a limitation on the entry/exit which may or may not get triggered in your case. In my case I needed to clear from airside twice on the same evening (same date). The first one was all OK and standard procedure. However as I re-entered to go to airside and explained I just need to collect a bag from inside. The immigration explained that I can only have one entry into Singapore per calendar day.

From your post I can't exactly see if this would happen but....same would apply (i assume) to leaving SIN twice in the one day.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like the best solution. And there is no issue if you have checked bags, just collect the bags from left luggage when you get back to the airport for your flight.

By the way are you not able to print a boarding pass with QF international OLCI?

Assuming you can check in early, another option maybe to take your elderly relatives on a Changi organised City Tour without actually entering Singapore). You can book these in the terminals and are run, as far as I know, on special buses that you do not leave during the tour. I guess they would take a two-three hour tour around the city sites - not the 10-11 hours you have available but would save the need to entry and exit SIN twice in one day. Other than that, the transit hotel is a useful option. If you are in SIN less than 24 hours in total you could put your luggage straight through to your destination.

done & booked..Transit hotel booked for 9 hours works out to be about $100~AUD still cheaper than a decent hotel in the city for around $230~AUD.
Will have a nice long sleep during the night, wake up in the morning for shower, get some breakfast in CX lounge, then off to meet my relative, exit airport go for tour, back in the early evening to the QF lounge to await our flight to MEL.

Nothing. I think they just need your passport. I don't recall being asked for proof of a return ticket from Singapore.

Possibly the easiest country for an Aussie to enter.

You generally need to show your ticket out to the airline bringing you in. But I entered and exited twice on both Saturday and Sunday a couple of weeks back no issues. All you need is a passport and completed immigration form

Are their metal detectors more sensitive than ours ? My RM Williams boots have set off detectors here. :-|

as sensitive I would say. But not detectors until the gates, so not an issue if it's a time thing. You can go in and out of the country multiple times without going through a detector.

Agree you need to have proof ready when checking in to Singapore if on a one way, QF ask me all the time.

It's also worth noting that on entry Singapore immigration leave a portion of the immigration white card in your passport for cross checking when you leave.

Although it is obvious for all of us to retain that card and represent it when leaving the island state, one of my travel friends told me how they had lost that card and were delayed having to complete a stat dec or similar.
