Rang NAB today to check if I was eligible for this 40k bonus and no annual fee for the first year premium offer because I had already received the 20k offer with the basic card. They said yes I can, no exclusion clause, but I have to apply online (cannot do it over the phone):

Credit card affiliate - Qantas Rewards Premium - NAB

Which is where "nab.com.au/qantas" takes you (the girl on the phone told me of that link).

Appears exactly the same as the link on the QFF website:
Credit card affiliate - Qantas Rewards Premium - NAB
This is good news , hope you are successful .

It's a topic for its own thread, really, but one has really got to wonder what these extra millions and millions of points in the market are doing to the ability to snag a FF seat when you want it. From an economics points of view it's essentially printing money. Hyperinflation to the extreme.

I'm pleased my main use of points is ODUs.

That is a very good and valid point Danger.

From my experience most people will use them for Qantas store or domestic economy awards. I don't think it's a massive threat to.seasoned pros.

Although not the Qantas version I thought someone on this thread would know. Mrs andye has just applied for the Velocity NAB premium.
Asked for the max limit. Was expecting to be given the minimum 6K but in fact given 15K.
So far, so good but on the application, had only asked for a 6K balance transfer. Seeing as it is for a year at 0%, I would be keen to have a higher transfer. Are they likely to let us?
(Impatient I know as will probably find out in a few days, but wondered how hard to push if they don't offer it)

Ah always ask for BT far more than you ever think you'll get. That said can't hurt to.ask since you have a BT already in the system.

applied for the Nab qff 40k card only a few hrs ago.

Have been approved. I did do a screen shot of every page I filled in (as well as the proof pages showing 40k), and the government spec sheet which they must supply.

Now need to wait a week and cancel my anz basic!

Anz basic: reached my limit, over/under. Paid some extra to apply (ask) for a credit limit.

They told me it would be done from scratch (apply again, credit file, work stuff). I eventually told them to stop.

Not good enough, I will infact cancel next week and apply fpr a new card with bonus points!

Long story short: Refer to my original comment!

40k bonus points received. Due to billing cycle timing, that's 38 days from approval to points.

Shame I cant talk them into an annual fee reversal before cancelling.

Good Dr I too applied in Nov / cancelled in Dec and have been biding my time since I saw the new offer - I think you have until end April do you not for this offer? I think I will still wait a month before having another crack at it

Cruiser, got an email 24 hrs later saying approved. No need to wait any longer. Seems two months is long enough.

Now up to 220,000 points through offers over the last 9 months!

What annual fee? The offer was for the annual fee to be waived for the first 12 months.

"Special offer:$0 annual fee for the first year. $250 thereafter."

Well without the $$$ that QFF brings into QANTAS, QANTAS may well have gone belly up already. So without promos like this that earn revenue for QANTAS you could quite possibly not have to worry about redeeming for awards at all.

Said tongue in cheek - $0 upfront. I churn credit cards a fair bit and for those that made me pay an annual fee for the bonus points, I always get them to reverse it (and th spend it) before cancelling.

Great experience with the NAB card. Applied online and received card after few days. Paid 1st statement in full, received 40k few days later. Efficient process, great customer service. In contrast, here's what I had to do with ANZ and Macquarie: send proof of income documents, they also rang to check the documents I sent, had to chase up the points cause didn't post in the time they stated. With ANZ, 'lost' my proof of income documents, had to re-send. With Macquarie, it took four phone calls and one to the Sydney complaints team to get the bonus points. What the...?

Ah always ask for BT far more than you ever think you'll get. That said can't hurt to.ask since you have a BT already in the system.

Mrs andye part-time and only back at work for a year. Was concerned that asking for a 5-figure BT might give them cold feet

This is weird:
I cancelled my basic card after getting the 20k. The next day I applied for the premium 40k offer (I am looking to get the bonus ASAP). I get the usual "you will get a response in 5 business days" email.
Just got a call from this number (NAB Indian call centre).
91968302 - who calls me from 91968302?

They say that even though I applied for the premium, they approved me for the basic card instead and for 3k limit (I only applied for the minimum 6k limit - I'm not intending to use it as an everyday card).
Can they do that? ie give me a product I did not apply for? I'm not sure if this will go on my credit report - I said I would think about it for a day and ring back to see if I want to go ahead with it or not (unlikely, it won't get me the 40k I don't imagine).

Yes I believe when they don't approve you for a certain credit limit then they tend to auto-offer you a lower product that you don't qualify for - and that may end up as a credit check on your record as well.

Call up the local call centre (if possible?) and decline the offer, they might offer you the better one.

There is definitely a credit check here, even if you get declined they have checked your credit record as part of doing so.

To follow up:

The initial BT didn't go through: either because it was a DC or that it was Mrs andye's supplementary card number. Happy to give a higher BT onto the MC associated with the DC and to an Amex (both accounts under my name) on same terms when called up

The offer for the Platinum Card seems to have gone down to 20,000 points and for the Basic Rewards Card down to 10,000 points.
