What was your reason to NAB?

I told them I was reconfiguring my finances including mortgage and my new lender had offered me a good card that was fee free and I was closing my existing cards. Qantas points weren't mentioned by either party.

Also got my points today.. did anyone else get the wrong amount?

QFF points credited today, just over 286,000 now. 200k of these from bonus..... 50k ANZ, 40k NAB, Macquarie 80k, Jetstar 30k :)

I think it's a bit rich when they start the interrogation. Surely it's none of their business why you are closing and if you choose not to tell them that's your perogative.

I think asking is fine, am sure they are interested in understanding why people leave (and maybe addressing which will help customers who stay). But yes, you are under no obligation to tell them.

I've noted that the some of the NAB account closing team staff are well clued into people opening and closing account just for points and make notes that probably end up as campaign statistics somewhere...

This.

So the more people they have admitting to only getting the card for the bonus and cancelling, in theory the less likely future promotions will be offered.

For those with a high moral standing, you don't have to tell the whole truth, just say that the earn on the non-Amex cards is too low for you. That's what I did for one of my ANZ ones. You'd be mad to mention anything about the points. There is no value in doing so. That way, everyone wins.

I'm guessing ANZ didn't plan for many people to get (multiple increments of) 50k and run with their promotion last year, or did and underestimated the magnitude of the occurrence.

Play the game the way it's supposed to be played. ;)
Don't worry, they know this is happening and it's something they chose to take a risk on when offering the promotion. All banks included.

As usual I love AFF, applied and approved with no issue on Friday , cards arrived today, just need to go in and show ID.
i assume you can use either the Amex or visa as the qualifying transaction?

I agree, that is in fact exactly why I cancel, I may well apply for the points but that's not the reason I cancel. Mentioning the sign on is just unnecessary.

I applied Saturday.
Received cards yesterday (Weds)
I went to show 100 ID today only to be told that my ID had already been verified
They gave me a temporary PIN.
Changed at ATM immediately.
Bought lunch on it a few minutes later.

Applied for the 20,000 point offer in November 2014. Got the points and cancelled in December 2014.

Just applied for the 40,000 offer and application was referred.

Good Dr I too applied in Nov / cancelled in Dec and have been biding my time since I saw the new offer - I think you have until end April do you not for this offer? I think I will still wait a month before having another crack at it

"Apply by 19 April 2015 and make a purchase within 90 days."

I may have gone too early. But I want the points to book a round the world fare for 2016. I've also just applied for the 60,000 pt St George offer and did the ID check in branch today - no cards yet though.

Ah April 19 - tks for that - I'll have a crack mid Mar - the spend in 90 days not a prob - a $10 spend in a terminal situated 1.5mtrs imm behind me always gets me over the line.

Just saw this :(
Got the NAB basic with 20k and no annual fee for the first year only a few weeks ago!
The offer is until mid April so hopefully there is no exclusion clause and I may apply then...

Rang NAB today to check if I was eligible for this 40k bonus and no annual fee for the first year premium offer because I had already received the 20k offer with the basic card. They said yes I can, no exclusion clause, but I have to apply online (cannot do it over the phone):

Credit card affiliate - Qantas Rewards Premium - NAB

Which is where "nab.com.au/qantas" takes you (the girl on the phone told me of that link).

Appears exactly the same as the link on the QFF website:
