May I pose my own SC run question? I am Cairns based and may need around 600SCs before end February 08. I was thinking perhaps a Circle Asia fare for 13,000km around $4,500 base fare, since I have an offer of staying in Perth in the new year and it would cost about $3,500 to do simply a CNS-PER-CNS in J anyway (routing through SYD for maximum SCs of 320). I guess a CNS-SYD-PER-SIN-KUL-HKG-NRT-CNS or similar would get close to the 600SCs at around $7.50 or so per SC? Any other ideas (apart from the obvious - buying a DONE4 exNRT and splitting the trip across the Feb 08 cut off date to secure WP effectively for two years)? :)

How? By doing several SYD-CBR returns on discounted J fares, possibly with a SYD-MEL-SYD in JQi for variety's sake?
The latter ...

280 / 40 = 7
$241 x 7 = $1687

I am trying to weigh up the benefit of status vs. 7 retrun trips on JQ... There is only so much moet I can drink in the F lounge...

I know the word "mad" is bandied about when it comes to extreme SC runs, but honestly, you'd have to be insane to travel to HNL on JQ, only to turn around and come straight back, again on JQ!

Cheers,
- Febs (not a fan of JQ).
Febs, you inspire such confidence!

I am now a poor student, and have to find the cheapest way to fly SYD-YVR in January. I would have loved to fly QF, but i scored SYD-HNL-YVR (on JQ/WS) for under AUD$700 one way.
I am definately not looking forward to JQ from SYD-HNL, but by that stage i will be WP, and will be spending about 6 hours in the F lounge at Syd just to prepare myself for the journey! Haha :)
I also get to use the QF lounge in HNL as a departure for the WS flight, which will help ease the pain of the JQ flight as well!

Cheers,

Josh

Will you be able to check in this early for a JQI flight? Would be terible to turn up to SYD 6 hours before your flight with the FLounge so close but unable to access it untill your flight opens for check in.

I have a MEL-SYD QF flight at 9am, so I get to check in for JQ flight in MEL (Booked this flight especially early so I could maximise my first F lounge experience!)

Phew! You had me worried for a second there! :)

Don't be surprised if the MEL check-in people tell you that you need to collect your JQ boarding pass when you get to SYD. They will be able to tag your bags through to the final destination, but may not be able to check you in for the JQ flight.

Ha. :)
A word of advice - if you want the entertainment unit, pre-pay it. I think they had about....20 units on our flight.

I guess to be honest it really wasn't that bad. I just felt a little cheated that I paid the same price (in QFF points and taxes) for a JQ flight, as I would have for a QF flight. I missed the QF flight award seat availability by a day. One day it was there, one day it wasn't. SG = no chance of requesting an award seat be made available.

I also expected the food to be slightly better than the cough you pay for in Y on AA. It wasn't. $10 for a stale (and small) bacon&egg roll, an OJ and a yoghurt?

Well that should help. :) It's actually a decent lounge compared to any of the major Admirals' Clubs. Self-serve spirits/beer, fresh juice, fruit (), half-decent snacks etc...

Hope you have a decent experience. :)

Cheers,
- Febs.
