Negative qantas points balance?

Is it possible to have a negative qantas points balance ? I accidentally booked a flight with just points that cost much more than what I have? I expect once this booking is ticketed it will be cancelled ?

It's shambolic in all sorts of ways. Anyone tried to use the SC and points calculator (https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/calculators.html#/) lately? Can only do one airport pair at a time - logged out or logged in. :rolleyes:

Yes negative balance is possible although it is more like a deposit. Call centre changed a flight once for me that should have incurred more points but the agent missed that I did not have enough points. The revised booking showed in my account but status was 'processing' and remained that way for weeks and weeks. I suspected it was the points shortfall.


Once I had enough points weeks later I called and played dumb wondering why it was still processing. The agent then asked “Do you have enough points now ? “.

So while it was showing as ’processing’ did it get ticketed?
My guess is that it wouldn’t ticket, thereby leaving award seats (especially QR) in jeopardy.
