New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

Just wait til (if ever) the SYD Dom lounges get upgrade. Thr angst during the transition will make this ADL thing look like a garden party.....

Remember.. this is all in transition so yeah, going to be incinvenient while it happens. The problems trying to keep a facility/service going while transforming the existing area.

I think the angst will come from the food offerings available in the now tiny QP if the breakfast offerings of yesterday were anything to go by. All it is is a small partition off the bar that used to have the nuts mix. The rest of the lounge, eg the computer area on entry, and all the seating up to the barista, The food counter, the kids play area is gone. The space is tiny. Also I think Business class people of SG down will also be sent there and not to the premium class. I think until November. And then possibly the current area will be closed off for the J lounge when the old area opens up.

Of course it’s not ideal but something has to give and it’s the best solution they’ve got. Other option is to close all the QF lounges for 6 months and get the renovations done but imagine the sooking and carry on if that happened.

I was there this morning and they had a heater cabinet which stored three heated options (a ham and cheese croissant, baked beans with English muffins and a frittata). There was an attendant there handing out whatever people asked for. As jase05 has pointed out, they’re doing the best with what they’ve got.

Should have it down pat by the time I get there on the 12th July.

And another first for CL. There’s a passenger here in HiViz vest. 😱😂 But he’s a he so he got in ok.
Remember, Qantas consider HiVis as a 'uniform', just like armed forces, so is acceptable!

Well. I’m calling sexism. I got told to turn right. Which is into the original QP. MrP arriving later, got shown into the Chairman’s Lounge. He called me wondering where I was. We are both WP and it’s on the tickets.
Don't feel to bad -- I got sent to the old Qantas lounge, too (and I'm male; but in retrospect, perhaps it's my name "Kerry", which nowadays folks assume is feminine).

Midday visit to the temporary ADL QP - the western end of the original precinct footprint, overlooking regional apron (Gate 50) & landside ground transport view to north. Estimated at 40% of the original footprint, so not ‘tiny’ (in my view), & occupancy was approx 30%.
Bar & barista operating as normal. Pre-plated range of soup, pies/quiche, (pumpkin!) salad, ploughmans baguette.
A notch down from the substantive ADL QP, and will reassess in a couple of days during the morning peak, but first impressions are a more than adequate interim option & not the worst of the QP offerings (YMMV).

I hear the Adelaide lounge will not accept lounge invitations during the building period. If that's so, the four invitations I would normally transfer to family members here in Adelaide won't work -- and that would make my travels with family difficult.

Damn, I just boarded the flight so couldn’t confirm this for you. Will ask them on Sun and let you know

Have there been enough WPs entering the lounge to work out the criterion for who goes where, new ex-CL or QP?

Does anyone know if J class passengers can access the CL without platinum status?

Yes, but..

It really should no longer be called the CL imo. The space formerly kniwn as the CL perhaps...
I'm not so sure. I was J class but directed to the original QP. But maybe rookie error.

And I think from previous size of the QP and that did get packed mid morning when the Air NZ and Fiji airlines depart on those flight days that there will be a squeeze. It was before. Thats my experience last year. But all should be sorted by October for when other international airlines start to resume.

As we already know about the new lounge perhaps it is just a matter of asking?

I was in the old CL Lounge on Monday morning at around 9am. Haven’t flown out of Adelaide for a few years so I actually thought it was the new Business Lounge 😀. WP traveling in Economy with one guest.

Thought the lounge looked pretty good, not sure why they need a new one.

I noticed that in the ladies toilets, the wash basin was inside the cubicle like in the First Lounge.

Food options were reasonable, similar to the Business Lounge, perhaps the bacon was better.

There wasn't a dedicated Business Lounge in the QP Hence the changes plus refurb to the original one.
