New Altitude Black has landed...

Mine arrived today. I need to call them. It's pretty ambiguous in some places. I remember when Westpac changed from visa to MasterCard I lost all my online statements. So just make sure if you do swap that you have copies of them downloaded.

Is the fee only 'free' on the first year?

Thanks for the tip regarding statements.
Existing Altitude Platinum customers stay on the existing fee.

Has anyone confirmed if points are earned on ATO payments? Terms and Conditions state government charges will not earn points, so I assume not??

I have just checked a payment I made on Black Amex, it's come through as 3 points as has the card payment fee (hadn't occurred to me that I wouldn't - so pleased it did).

Thanks Qld4104 - let's hope this is the case, as the T&C seem ambiguous, especially when other card providers include ATO under government

oz_mark - this appears to refer to fees and charges which can be applied by Westpac to the cardholder, assuming you are referring to section 7.3

Yes - but that should be the definition used by the rewards program as well. They don't define anything else!

Any confirmation on whether ATO debt accrues points & at what rate?
It won't be at a different rate, that's for sure. Whether it is paid at all or not is the question. I'll let you know when I next have to pay the ATO.

I put a little test run through in April. No points yet, but none for the odd Coles etc purchases either so I'm not too worried. Yet. I'll report back when something happens.

That sounds kind of worrying actually. What date in April? Points normally post pretty quickly with Altitude (a day or so after the spend appears on your account, IIRC). The last time I used my Altitude Black Amex was 1 May (last Wed), and the points are there already. As you say though, if a Coles payment hasn't shown up either, maybe there is no call for concern.

I haven't used mine for an ATO payment yet but I am planning to use it for a pretty large bill within the next week, so very interested to hear your confirmation on this either way. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Actually I just remembered I used it again on Friday night (3 May), but neither the spend nor the points for that transaction has appeared online yet. I think the spend normally shows up at the end of the following working day (i.e. tonight), so I'll see how soon after that the points appear.

Thanks.

What are the current uncapped cards that post ATO points, excluding Virgin Money Highflyer, which I have?

Just activated my BLACK's!!

For those who have been with Altitude Plus for several years.....and paid the yearly fees......as I have done each year....it might pay you to ring Westpac and discuss a deferral of fees.

I phoned and mentioned the many offers out there, and asked for the fee to be deferred for 12 months. Saved $295, which is the same bonus value of other banks/providers without having to change. They would have lost me otherwise. Goodluck if you try. Noting about a 60k/yr spend, paid off religously every month.

Hi everyone,
i have been following the 2 main threads on the Alitutde/Earth black cards, & have got myself confused!
My westpac contact is currently telling me that i must review it every 12 months with them, as they dont have the "technical capability" of alterning the ongoing annual fee.
Has anyone actually managed to "lock in" a reduced ongoing annual fee?
I have managed to get the annual fee waived for 12 months, but i would prefer the annual fee is reduced for its lifetime.
(or ideally both options - as i do not want to be negotiating a credit card fee every 12 months).
thanks.

My reduced charge is for the lifetime of the card.

Have had mine for a few weeks. They upgraded from the Platinum Plus. Don't quite see all the fuss in creating this new card which is basically same as the old PP card other than they wished to trash a lot of customers off their points regime ???

Any news on this yet? FYI, the points from my Friday night spend were showing up before the start of business on Tuesday - i.e. 1-2 working days. So if you still haven't got points from transactions in April, I'd be phoning up if I was you.

Re: New Altitude Black has landed...attempt at humour

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the potential marketing faux pas that the title of this card could be written as the Earth/Altitude Black American Express Card???
(maybe its just been a long week??)

That's v.funny. Just as well it is not aimed at women or there would be misogyny claims all round!

Re: New Altitude Black has landed...attempt at humour

I applied online and received approval (subject to the usual evidence, pay slips, etc. ...) Looking forward to this!

What's the transfer conversion to kris flyer? Anyone with a link please? Not a westpac customer so can't log into altitude.
