New Amex statement credits

I used 9 at Bondi. Cashier lady roller her eyes a bit and complained that so many people were doing it. I mentioned that they were picking up nearly $3000 in business from me that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise so maybe the 15 seconds of work wasn't that big a deal.

I do now remember why I don't shop at Harvey Norman now. The whole sales experience is just terrible.

Yup thats Harvey Norman. I used 8 cards for a $163 dollar bill for dining as part of Shop Small. The guy didn't even mind a single bit.

ANyone had any luck buying more VPAY recently ? is it back instock yet ? thanks in advance.
Had no issues earlier this week

Edit: Once the Vpay system for registering cards was working, anyway. The sales/credit process was fine.

HN credit received and then rescinded due to VPay problems and cancellation. Will I be able to get credit on another purchase at HN?
My account is shown as redeemed.

I think you should be able to get credit. Just ring Amex after 1 week of transaction if the credit doesn't appear.

Apologies if you have already detailed this but why? Did you get a refund?
As have mentioned in previous posts HN charged for VPay purchased and then couldn't activate VPay. So a refund.
Amex triggered a HN purchase and credit $100. So to burst the happiness bubble Amex "discredit" the $100 due to refund.
All in no HN purchase and $0 Amex credit.

The trick here is to carry another card and get them to refund it to that card - they don't check the card so just hold it in your hands the the whole time...

Which is honestly how it should be. Occasionally, refunds do not trigger the credit to be rescinded though.

It was an IPad Air 128GB for $499. As it was the IPad Air and not the IPad Air 2 the Chadstone HN had some on clearance.

I have found some great clearance buys. ie a Nokia Lumia 930 for only $79 was a real bargain.

Don't know how this compares to their online prices but CR have just listed HN as one of their retailers with up to 50% right now.

Yes I saw that..I think the operable part is up to...rather than 50% ;)There seems to be a slight extra discount items I looked at...but also if you are after the $100 I would make sure you buy a GC and then buy as it seems to be a different website and so may not generate the HN Amex Rebate.

The item that I want (dryer) is not there. Plus in store they will normally give a discount anyway (apart from genuine clearance prices)and so that will probably give the same or better price.

Generally speaking the best HN bargains over the years I have found to be the store specific clearance items as they often can go really cheap. It is a lucky dip what is there though.

...

Only mentioned it as somewhere where one could spend their new vPay. Just finished looking online and personally I am underwhelmed. Also the process requires you to send an item to the "shopping cart" to ascertain the discount, which is unwieldy in my view.

Depends on the store.

As I posted earlier Harvey Norman Wiley Park does not have any gift cards other than Harvey Norman an iTunes. Other stores have gone the same way. Find a store that still has VPay cards.

I took 6-7 vPay cards with me the other day.

No luck for me yesterday. The the vPay 'terminal' had a pink sticky note on it saying 'No vPay' at my local HN. Didn't check again today, but will be back there next week.

They lied three times in a row (changing their story each time) at my local HN until they admitted that they just did not want to sell me a vpay voucher (and not knowing how I wanted to pay).

This suggests to me that HN are funding a decent portion of the cashback... Reminds me of when WOW were mysteriously out of stock of the Perfect Gift Cards during the $10WWR cashback scenario. Which store denied vpay to you?

2 scenarios really:
1. HN is funding the cashback(or some of it) - there was a post before from someone regarding the spend 3 times get $100 back offer for a certain company. I think he/she said the company was funding it, and it was a colossal stuff up in terms of the wording send to AMEX when they wanted the deal implemented. I find this hard to believe though, as HN is a franchisee and it may be hard to get them to ALL agree to this deal, unless it was forced upon them in their contracts or whatever.

2. Over zealous and power tripping employees and managers. This I find this scenario more likely.
