New Amex statement credits

Luckily I registered my cards for the BP offer before I boarded my flight to Hkg this am....was going to wait til I arrived and use my laptop but laboriously registered 7 cards with my phone.

With people registering enough cards for a small army, its no wonder the offers fill up so fast...

Indeed. I will easily use all 6 offers on fuel though, so absolutely worth signing up all my cards.

I don't sign them all up to all offers when I know there will only be a one time use.

Have you ever tried loading Q Cash with vpay?

Doesn't work. Heritage Bank and indue (who between themselves operate most of the prepaid cards in Aust) block loads from each others, and their own, products

Went to BP. Did 1 x $40 Opal top up. Got email instantly. But 1 hour later the $40 value does not show on my Opal card. Is this normal?

Still nothing. Looks like I'm headed back to the store :(

That happened to me with the shop small where the operator charged the $20 on the various AMEX ccs but only loaded $10 on the Opals.

"Oh sorry, my mistake".

Once is a mistake 5x is fraud. Always check the OPAL receipt before you leave the store.

All you need to do is apply for them. You can have 4 per account. I hear getting supplementary cards in the name 'Baby Gammy' is popular.

With all sorts of CC applications, supp card applications, promos etc one can choose to use real names, or to game the system.

If gaming the system, one needs to assess the possible consequences of being found out and assessing one's own risk vs reward.

In this particular case Amex do randomly check the ID of Supp Cardholders, BUT they do not always do it. I have had various Sup Cardholders for various Amexes for over a decade and some have been checked and some not. Sometimes they have checked on application, and sometimes afterwards by separate follow up.

Many forumites have also reported similar random vetting.

Now for myself Amex has been an extremely lucrative card for points, cash, flights and other benefits. It is a 7 figure points warehouse at present as well. I certainly do push the envelope at times with them, but personally I see no point in gaming the gaining of Supp cards with false names, deliberate misspellings etc when one can easily gain Supp Cards in the names of real people.

Amex is a Golden Goose. Long may it lay such eggs.

Opal receipt is not the problem. It specifically says 'Top-Up Successful'

I've just called Transport NSW and they have said that it's either the stores machine failing to communicate correctly with Transport NSW or the person operating the Opal terminal has failed to encode the card properly. They are investigating and tell me it will take up to 2 days to get a response. In the meantime they have suggested that I go back to the store. Which I'll do later this afternoon.

Sorry if this is a dumb question....

With the current BP spend $40 get $10 statement credit offer, the T&C's say "Offer redeemable up to 2 times."

As there is no mention of different locations, it can be 2 times from the same BP?

I had the same problem back in November, Opal receipt was OK and showing correct amount but no top-up registered when checking Opal stored value online / via App HOWEVER correct amount was showing when checking value at train station. Online / App was correctly updated after a couple of days.

As long as the receipt for the top-up is correct you should be fine!

I've been back to the store and their terminal shows that the $40 was added at 10:30am this morning. But its still not showing on my account. They didn't dispute this.

The manager was quite helpful and rang the terminal providers who stated it can take up to 24 hours for the credit to register to your Opal account

Given Opal say 1 hour for the credit to occur, 24 hours is a considerable increment.

I'm prepared to wait until tomorrow to see if it loads itself or whether I have to go back to the store again.

Last year I think it was 3 times per card. 3 times at the same location worked each time for me. As long as separate transactions.
