New Amex statement credits

Hi lovetravellingoz how were you able find hotels cheaper on Amex. All the one I found were cheaper elsewhere and Amex doesn't have a price match policy whatsoever.

You just have to look. And I was only looking at Koh Samui and Singapore Airport Hotel (and for that it was the same price and so it was the $50 rebate that made it cheaper)

However one for example had the "Amex Free night" deal. So over a 4 night booking that took 25% off. The Marrriot also had the free night deal and was cheaper due to this, but I opted to not go there in the end.

Another it was just cheaper as Amex had it on sale. Many were more expensive though.

PS. I was keen to use my two $400 up as my holiday after Koh Samui (over Easter) this year is already taken care of as I have a bareboat cat in The Whitsundays during July and I did not what to feel rushed in using it late this year. Plus it allows me to cancel one Explorer.

So, what's up with Amex Connect having more useful statement credit offers for bank issued cards rather than Amex's own cards?

Past month or so, I've had the Ayers Rock Resort, Luxury Escapes, Trenery and Vinomofo offers on my Explorer card, whereas my bank issued cards have had the BP and Multi-brand offer. Or is there a way to game the system for more and better targeted offers?

Anything on Amex Connect can be registered for your Amex direct cards too.

hmm
bp and multi-brand had manual links so you could of signed up with the amex issued cards. Are your amex cards new? I know they take a few months to get onto the automated statement credit 'list'

I've found there are not many truly targetted offers except for a few you might get with a new card.
The links on this thread will get you most of them (though you will need to be quick to register for some offers these days)

I'll give manual registration another try for my new (~1 month old) Explorer card.
When I log in via website or App, both new offers didn't appear under my card. And when I try to add Amex issued cards to the Amex Connect site where I've already got my bank issued Amex, it says the Explorer is an invalid card...

I think you are doing it wrong :-)
Manual registration is where you enter the actual card number and an email. Links will appear here and ozbargain.

Through the app or user log in website, that is the 'automatic' way of registering.

With all sorts of CC applications, supp card applications, promos etc one can choose to use real names, or to game the system.

If gaming the system, one needs to assess the possible consequences of being found out and assessing one's own risk vs reward.

In this particular case Amex do randomly check the ID of Supp Cardholders, BUT they do not always do it. I have had various Sup Cardholders for various Amexes for over a decade and some have been checked and some not. Sometimes they have checked on application, and sometimes afterwards by separate follow up.

Many forumites have also reported similar random vetting.

Now for myself Amex has been an extremely lucrative card for points, cash, flights and other benefits. It is a 7 figure points warehouse at present as well. I certainly do push the envelope at times with them, but personally I see no point in gaming the gaining of Supp cards with false names, deliberate misspellings etc when one can easily gain Supp Cards in the names of real people.

Amex is a Golden Goose. Long may it lay such eggs.

I wouldnt order a supp card under a fake name in case they do
check, however is it a problem to apply for a supp card under your own middle name, assuming your name is Joe Adam Blogs
and your primary card is Joe Blogs, whilst your supp card is adam blogs

In my experience you need to look very hard. But it is definitely possible.

An update on the Opal cards not registering the BP top up amount... still can't see the amount online. Will check again after 24 hours from the time of purchase yesterday.

Ok thanks for update re Opal guys. Was instant for me in November with Shop Small and earlier with BP, so something might have changed.

Only 1 card. Too late to register.

Never mind, at least you had the opportunity (while actively posting) of seeing the multiple posts about the new offer on either side of your posts a few hours before it was filled - shame they didn't piqué your interest until later.

Made my first fill last night at BP and before I'd made it back to the car from the cash register, the Amex email came through.
