New Amex statement credits

Not if it is targetted. And to register you will need a manual link.

If it is on the Amex Connect Website then it would not be targeted, or at least with every offer I have seen on the Amex Connect site I have been able to register for. Maybe they just want me to get everything ;)

Never mind, at least you had the opportunity (while actively posting) of seeing the multiple posts about the new offer on either side of your posts a few hours before it was filled - shame they didn't piqué your interest until later.
I had missed a few days of this thread and as soon as I saw the link for BP I tried regestering and posted. Then I read that everyone before me had the same issue.

The offers have been poor this year. Very disappointing and the offers that do come up one has to be real quick. I guess ozbargain and the multiple cards fill up registration quickly.

I was surprised when I checked my offers yesterday that I saw an offer from Amex for 9.99% interest on purchases for next 6 months. Really? Don't give me an offer I can use to spend more but also to save money but try to squeeze an extra 10% interest out of me.

??? Why.

If anything I would estimate that they are up on the same stage last year.

The "normal" pattern is that there are more and generous offers late in the calendar year in the lead up to Christmas.

This was also the same back when Amex used Point Promos, rather than the less-rewarding cashbacks that dominate today, when in about November-ish year Amex would run their biggest point promo for the year.

You have been here a long time and I don't wish to tell you how to suck eggs, but out of curiosity, how do browse AFF?

Its going off topic a little but..... this is how I suck eggs in order to keep up with all of the nuggets on AFF - including the lucrative new amex statement credit offers.

I don't use the app very often, 99% is on explorer or safari. By selecting "What's new?" from the top ribbon I see every post, well the first few words or a sentence of them, I skim over any that don't interest me, but also see if there is a hot topic / multiple successive posts such as any new amex offers (or mistake fares etc). I then open the posts I want to fully read in a new tab - then close it when done. When I come back to the "What's new?" tab (10 minutes, 1 hour or X hours later) it loads any new posts above a line so it is easy to scroll down and then skim over the 1, 5, 90 new posts. Rinse and repeat.

I'm happy with the way it works for me, but as always YMMV

I was pretty cheezed to receive the BP email from Amex and have it unavailable less than 2 hrs after receiving email.

They seriously need to make offer open "for 24hrs" or similar.

You're doing better than me. By the time I received the email (received, not read), the offer was already unavailable. Luckily I got in on the offer before receiving the email thanks to this forum. However, BEFORE receiving the email, MrsDaver6 attempted to sign-up for it, but no longer available.

If you have an ozbargain account, you can set it to alert you via email when certain words appear. EG 'statement credit'.
I have alerts for 'amex', and get a few emails per day for people selling flights etc, but I never miss out on deals (unless they expire by the time I wake up in the morning). ;)

I simply subscribe to this thread and get email alerts - easy :)

Ozbargain is the devil. I will not get into bed with the devil, even for discount fuel.

Ozbargain is an interesting place.
It's gotten way too big in my opinion, but of course that's because everybody wants the best deals, and who can blame them?..
I just wish I didn't have to compete with so many people for the best bargains. :)

Same here - by the time the email from Amex arrived, the offer was already fully subscribed. Luckily I arrived at work early and was doing a quick email check around 5.45am when I saw the "new replies" alerts from this thread and also the search alert from OzBargain, so was able to register both of my cards, otherwise I would have missed out.

Devil? Ozbargain helps me and many others to save money. Sure, I've missed out on some deals but the only one to blame was myself for not being quick enough to take action. Loopholes should be exposed and quickly take advantage of and if you happen to miss out there will always be next time.
Btw, both Ozbargain and AFF are public forums just the former is more popular hence gets more exposure.

You've obviously got a good strategy and it's working for you.

I don't follow some of these threads that often. They have become pissing contests. But that's no excuse. I should still pop in once in morning and evening for anything new. I think Dan Murphys is the only one I've jumped on this year.

Ozbargain has certainly changed the game. I stay away from there with a passion.

Still happy to get the occasional crum here and there.

An update on the Opal cards not registering the BP top up amount... still can't see the amount online. Will check again after 24 hours from the time of purchase yesterday.

It literally took the full 24 hours for my top up amount to register online.

OB has never helped me save any money. It makes me spend MORE :P I'm subscribed to their homepage deals :D

Be careful what you wish for. From time to time offers are posted on AFF because they have been seen on OzB first.

It is not all one way traffic.

Nup - the few good offers that permeate through the porous walls of OB into here are far outweighed by the lecherous loopholes others jump upon over there.

Now cash me outside - how 'bout dat!

Managed to get the BP offer on two cards and already have used it once at a BP for fuel. Got the AMEX mail before I started the car back up. Perfect.
