New Amex statement credits

These were physical cards I bought in store. I did buy some VPay $300 cards at the start of the promo at another store and I checked them too last night. They were still intact so I spent them promptly in case something happens to that credit. I'll follow your advise and change my sensitive passwords as a precaution.

I purchased about 20 of them last week.
All of them worked except one so now since I can't check the balance I have to email support and ask them manually.
Which is annoying. I think it's not activated even though I have an email. As when I use it. It says card not found.

It's the first of the gift cards/eftpos cards I've stocked up on. I'm trying to use as it's a voucher and not a physical card and hardest to use and most likely to get lost

Ah ok, my apologies, misunderstood and thought the hacked ones were vpays.

That's cool. I did notice that they are in a similar number range to the VPays which makes sense since they're the same issuer.
I will follow your suggestion and change passwords all the same.

I would think these cards are relatively easy to hack, the expiry dates on mine are all the same and the card numbers appear t o be sequential. All one needs to do is guess one of the 999 combinations for the cvv number or the easier option would be to remove them from the shelf in HN take them home and carefully open then repack and place back onto the shelf for an unsuspecting customer.

They should really have a 4 digit pin that needs to be scratched off.

Only 2 had Australian based charges, the others that got hacked all had US charges.
The learning for me out of all of this is to use them straight away and not to store them for later use (despite the expiry date being long). The longer you hold them, the more likely to get jacked via a random number generator scam.
What's the difference between these and other ones like Visa1 in terms of 'hackability' assuming they're all generated in the same way.

First time I have actually seen this done electronically in the "Offers" section, normally I get a letter:

I've had two of these low rate offers pop up on the "my offers" tab over the last 9 months or so.

Currently I'm on the tail end of a 6 month 3.99% promo rate for my Amex Platinum Rewards card, although to date have not let any month go past without fully paying of the bill.

Late last year it was the same but on Qantas Amex.

Definitely worth keeping an eye out for these even if only to 'just in case'

Got the T&G offer on all my cards and also 3.99% p/a interest offer for six months, but only on my Explorer.

Finally getting around to using the VPays - what's best recommended ways to use up?

OK - I've been away and am working through Everest-size backlog (electronic and physical) so appreciate any constructive answers...

Do you mean for residual amounts on the vpays? If so i have put this towards gas and electricity bills.

I use them to top up utilities online and put them into credit assuming they're not thousands.

Yes you lose the miniscule offset interest that could be put to offset.
But it eliminates one potential headache of the details getting stolen or lost or mishandled or forgotten

Thank you!

Mea culpa, tried to use them when first created last Nov and it was all too hard and then we were away and ... and ... and ... then we were away again on a points 1st 1st odyssey.

So, complete vouchers x a few have lost interest (miniscule but some) over the months.

Just need to use them up.

When you get down to the residue (but greater than the min which I've forgotten) I convert to wish egcs then use at a woolies checkout.

I have a "mid-year offer" of $25 off $75 at various locations on some of my cards this morning. The locations are not particularly inspiring-hope its not replacing the mini-shop small
