New Amex statement credits

I have the Coles Express offer on some of my cards. Do we think this will work for fuel?

I purchased $40 worth of fuel this morning. Received the statement credit email almost immediately.

The Harris Farm offer allows you to (in reality not theory) buy gift cards online.

However, they have wised up apparently. You can now only buy online gift cards that only work online - not the physical gift cards that (now) only work in stores not online.

Or so the call centre in the Philippines explained on the two calls I made.

All velocity (including supps) and affinity cards got the Coles X and Harris offers. 7 Coles Myer group gift cards will be in the pocket shortly....

Ok so I worked how to calculate how to purchase fuel at Coles with a fuel docket.

Ok If fuel is 114c per litre you subtract 4c for the docket. Then divide $40 by 1.10 = 36.37 Which you then times by 1.15 which gives you 41.54. So you fill up to $41.54 to ensure a minimum spend of $40.

I think I got my sums right...

Or, if you have many Amex cards - you do a HN and buy some Cloes Myer Group giftcards using Android pay wave.... and leave behind the 44 Gallon drums for the next offer...

I referred a friend with instant approval a few days ago. Her circumstances changed immediately after approval and so she rang and cancelled the card - all good. I'm now seeing 30K Refer a Friend bonus in my account lol. Shhh...

Just reflecting that I've found this year incredibly lacklustre to date in terms of Amex offers.

Very few offers of interest and I don't think I've redeemed a single one. Particularly feeling the lack of Qantas offers.

And Shop Small feels like a long way away ...

There was a $50 Qantas offer in May - 50 back for 350 or 400 spend - can't quite remember. I redeemed this on 2 of my cards.

This is my first year on amex.
And although a lot of the discretionary spend doesn't apply to me.

I have used a Dan's. Harvy Norman. Domino's. BP credits
I don't know what it was like last year. But I've saved a fair bit already.

More would be good though

The first half of 2017 was woeful for statement credit offers.

However, since 01 July, I have noted a significant upswing in the number of offers even if the 'quality' of the offers is still a little poor for me.

I received this offer on the Charge, but not on the Edge or Reserve.

I use Android Pay on my Edge all of the time, and if I had received the offer on that card, it would have equated to 6 MR points/$ spent at my local WW....

In a first for me, my musings above have come true and the Android Pay offer has come through this afternoon for my Edge via email rather than via the App.

Got Harvey Norman but didn't redeem. Missed out on Domino's.

Got the email for offer on my essential card as well . Appeared to also be abilitiy for manual sign up of any Amex . However when I tried to submit form for my edge the message that it is only for cards invited . Let us know if anyone else can manually sign up from link in the email .

mygift2u VISA gift cards purchased from Harvey Norman. Options to check the balance online seem to have changed. Has anyone noticed this. Used to be able to do it with 16 digit card number, plus CVV number on back of card and then the expiry date. Now that option is gone. Can only check it with card number and 4 digit passcode (I have no idea what this is) or user name plus pass word (again I have no idea what this could be).
