New Amex statement credits

It seems Amex have sweetened the very poor Merivale offer a bit - use your Amex to book a table of four or more at a participating Merivale restaurant in August (directly or via merivale.com), spend $200 or more on your Card, and you’ll get a complimentary bottle of Möet & Chandon Impérial.

The offers stack.

Typical-I filled up at BP yesterday. However will use it plentifully until 9th October. Present on all my cards

Another watering down from previous offers. Still decent provided BP aren't hella-expensive.

About double the spend required this time to get the $10 credit.

Have they sorted how you get points when using the app?

Nope. Still no points with app. Still the $10 credit is worth more. But app not worth using otherwise.

Can only use twice per card.

Not sure why people found the app hard to use. I thought it was pretty easy. Click a button, the attendant activated the pump, put the fuel in, click a button, away you go. Has the functionality changed since the first time AMEX had this offer?

Because its cough. Clunky and slow.

Click a button, the attendant activated the pump, put the fuel in, click a button, away you go.

This is definitely not the process to get the app to work. There is no attendant involvement and it's definitely not 1 click. You have to select the correct petrol station, then the pump number, then...

The following description from OzBargain details the process fairly well:

'Here is what to expect:
1. Park at pump which will have signs everywhere saying it has BPme available.
2. While in car, turn on app and allow it to GPS find your location
3. Verify the petrol station you are at (ie click on app)
4. Verify the pump NUMBER you are at (basially look at the pump and make sure you choose the right one)
5. Wait a few seconds while the app connects to the BPme app backend and a message will appear saying you can now proceed to use the pump
6. [Optional] At the pump, press the pre-set amount buttons to only give me $40 worth of fuel (as I have multiple Amex cards and I like my Velocity points so I try to mimimise the loss)
7. Fill up car to whatever amount you want and then put pump back in the bowser
8. Get back in car (if done) and you will see that it has been charged to your nominated card.'

(AmEx Statement Offer: BPme Spend $40, Get $10 Back up to 2 Times)

I only ever used the app when the Amex deal operated.

Agreed.

My only issue last time, was that one fuel station I used that was shown as being activated for BPme was, in fact, closed for renovation.

Becaase its cough.

Those instructions are just an extension of the process I mentioned. Thanks for confirming what I said, albeit mine was in a less detailed manor. As I said, it’s simple to use.

Yes I recall having those types of issues as well. Also the app sometimes did not have the correct station location on the map. So from those sorts of things I would agree that there were definitely issues with it. Also lack of Velocity pts obviously.

On the actual fill up side it was easy to use.

You appear to have misunderstood my post. At no stage did I explicitly or even implicitly confirm what you had stated. In post #5974 you stated ' Click a button, the attendant activated the pump, put the fuel in, click a button, away you go'. This is not correct.

You might want to read some of the comments here:

Around 80% of the comments suggest that the app is painful and difficult to use.
