New Amex statement credits

There's been reports of success in doing this by calling up. YMMV if ever there was one.....
For specific offers? I wasn't targetted for the recent Qantas cashback and was knocked back when I called to ask about enrolling for the offer.

HN Gordon manager today said they received notification from HQ to only accept cash for GCs!! WTF…she wasn't convinced about this herself and let her staff member sell me a $500 GC split over 2 Amex cards….you think we were robbing HN!!
After all that, the 2x$50 cashback did not post automatically so I had to ring Amex for them to do it manually.

I am looking fwd to it. However I think the hype outweighs the benefit.

I think ongoing statement credits work out better,

Actually I think for the inner-city Mel and Syd dwellers the annual Vogue offer is easier and better - only 3 purchases per card for a $60 return. The only negative is if you want to buy Westfield cards. Buying gcs at DJs and Myer is very easy.

I have just noticed that my UK bank account has a BPme offer as well - £5 credit on a purchase of £40 or more. Only one credit and must be spent in one transaction.

Makes the current BPme offer here in Oz positively generous by comparison.

I tend to agree. I think the hype is related to the opportunity to top up opal cards then request a refund, so it represents a cash outcome.
I do look forward to it too, but kinda resent having to work that much harder for all the crumbs.

Not sure why you need to cash in the opal cards unless you rarely take public transport....+1 catches the train to work and easily spends over a $1000 per year!

Absolutely hate the BPme App....takes at least 5 mins to open the app and unlock the pump! Having said that, petrol is so expensive atm, so I will take any discount I can get. Might be able to squeeze 1, hopefully 2 more, $40 petrol fill ups b4 the promo ends on 9 October!

It does appear to be behaving more slowly this year.

That said, I have used 10 credits with 2 more to go :).

Because it's free money immediately. Well at least free money once they process the refund.

I got so fed up with the wait times. In fact now I don't wait until the payment processed notification comes up. And just drive off

They all get processed correctly

Malaysian Airlines - spend $800 for a $130 credit. Only received this on my Plat Edge card.
Thanks. Wonder if they will do split payments over the phone? :)....otherwise, will have to book each pax separately!

HOTELSTORM (Agoda partner) -spend $200 for $50 credit.

Never heard of them before!
