New Amex statement credits

My wife sold a fridge on Gumtree and the guy who bought it asked if he could take it in the morning and bring the money around later on "because he hasn't been to the ATM".

If you approach it with the assumption that every buyer is a scumbag that believes you are desperate to sell at any price, have grossly over-estimated the worth of your item, are stupid and he is the only person that will ever be interested in the item, then you'll have no problems.

I classify such people as 'time wasters'. The response, either verbal, by email or by SMS, would have been one word, 'no'. That leaves the ball firmly in their court. If they are still serious they will arrive with cash or you will never hear from them again.

I once had someone turn up with half the cash. I gave him directions to the nearest ATM. He actually did come back with the full amount so was a legitimate buyer as it turned out.

Have sold many items via gumtree, including a $30,000 car. Little to no dramas. Some time wasters yes, who are easily slapped down, but given the commission you pay to use the site it's a no brainer for me.

Apart from the odd time waster (buyer) I have never had any issues buying or selling on Gumtree. I'm not sure what you guys are up to...
I've never used Gumtree and can only go on people's experiences. I do have some things to sell but don't need the hassle that it can generate.

I sell a lot on gumtree and have had no dramas. if the price is right then the stuff sells.

Three from three.

Only scored emails from two. But can confirm three statement credits.

There’s a transaction fee of 20 cents at Eagle Street and 38 cents at the Casino one.

I’ll have a report on one other location in a day or so.

Thanks for that. I think I'll top up an unused piece of plastic and then cash it out.
