New Amex statement credits

Indeed, every offer I can remember excluded flights.
If you think how much time it takes when you go looking for a domestic flight, then start entering in your details, check the spellings are correct etc - then think about if you use a TA - add on the time taken up for a TA talking to you on the phone about what flights are available, sending you the confirmation, itinerary etc.

Even with an international flight in Y - it does not leave much to cover their labour costs, let alone rent, workers comp, etc.

That's why Flight Centre quietly dropped their 'We will beat any price offered (by an Australian based web site)." They were losing too much money on it. Makes it hard to use up the last of the Amex cash back offer a couple of years back with CV intervening .

Seems too many (Affers?) were taking advantage to ensure if anything did go wrong then they could actually get through to someone instead of some online TAs ringing out. Who knew the 2018 Hawaii hurricane would be due to hit Kona 8 minutes before my flight back departed?

TAs are the latest in a long line of threatened species such as independent corner stores & bookshops.

The airliness want you to book directly, it doesnt benefit them (and unless a complex itinerary rarely benefits you) to use a TA

I dunno, in the case of Qantas if you book through a TA there's a much better chance when something goes wrong that you'll be able to speak to a person to get it resolved.

1000% agree.

Tryng to contact Qantas is an exercise in futility.

Depends on who the travel agent is.

If QF cancel your flight (last one of the day) late night, flight centre wont answer the phone to help you. Some corporate TAs may, but the last time this happened to me, just told to go to hotel charge to boss, and QF rebooks you on first flight next day anyway.

Also in my experience if you buy direct much easier to get a refund than dealing with a 3rd party.

In my case it was with FlightCentre - I called the same person who had booked the flight for me & she did the rest. Given I was in Hawaii - it saved much agravation.

True time of day can have an impact, but I thought there is a 24hr number for FlightCentre.

Some years earlier I needed to call an international site & I was surprised to find it was the exception to the rule - phone was answered & issue dealt with. Very different to so many tales of woe on AFF.

With CV last year - Q did not perform well to say the least, and our most recent experience shows little has changed.

I have exactly same offer. Oddly it was not available in my offers and after clicking to accept on the email still doesn’t show as an accepted offer in my offers.

Mine is 2000 points for $1500 spend, then spend above $1501 earns 2 bonus points up to 7000 bonus points. This offer came in an email and isn't showing in the offers section of the website / app.

New offers;

Amazon - 100 / 20
Placie Rewards - 20 / 20

Amazon offer seems to be on primary cards only.

Placie only on my cards, no Amazon. With Prime Day coming up it might have been a useful offer.

Same here with Placie, on all cards. Seems excellent offer.

Amazon only on Plat Charge for me, +1 got it on Explorer.
