New Amex statement credits

Went to use my BP Me offer today. Filled up with LPG. Loaded up the app and hey presto the LPG pump isn't listed to choose to pay for. Pump not linked to the app. Plus i missed out on 10x points via the app too. Great!!

So i had to go in store to pay for my fuel. Missing out on the $10 credit. Now to wait for the charge to post and contact Amex for a manual credit.

BPMe, unless they changed it or I'm misremembering, actually requires you to select the pump prior to pumping.
I got to the part in the app to select the pump number. The pump numbers i could choose were 1-12. The LPG pumps were 13&14. To which i couldn't choose from.

Further upadte after reading the FAQ in BPme

"For safety reasons you are not able to purchase LPG via BPme."

God knows why?

Well I've answered my own question. Lesson is read the instructions before use.

I’ve never been game enough to try BP coffee. However, it seems that people survive to talk about it. 😉
BP coffee is regular barista prices. It should be better than the $1 coffee from 7-11 or Coles Express.

I hope you will be posting a report here once you have enjoyed your prize!

WIN an American Express Delicious Month Out – Chin Chin (Melbourne) Dining experience with Executive Chef Ben Cooper and Melissa Leong

Well the Chin Chin delicous Month prize dinner was on Monday Night 24th May........just coinciding with the new Covid Case coming out! So yes check in on arrival was required and enforced.

It was a great night for the 60 odd winners there (30 prizes of 2 tickets each.

The setting, the speakers, the food, the staff, the entertainers and the Amex in attendance hosting the night were all excellent. As were all the happy guests. Our table of eight was especially friendly, so much so that we have already arranged to go out to dinner again with two of them ;)

The entertainment consisted of a DJ and mixer as well as live instruments. Plus Ben and Melissa doinga Q&A Session.

Chin Chin is celebrating its tenth year. of operation and so that celebration was part of the evening..

Our menu, and yes we had it all including the matching wines.

In addition on arrival there were fresh oysters to help oneself too, and Gin coughtails!

Early on you had the chance if you wanted to have a chat with Melissa.

Here is my wife and Melissa comparing outfits ;)

The Kingfish Sashimi was the dish of the night for me. The Lobster Fried Rice was one of the more surprising dishes.

We were very fotunate to have prime seats for the Q&A Panel with Ben and Melissa., as we directly next to them and so could not have been closer. The panorama setting pic below makes it look further away than it was.

Ben spoke on his whole career, as well as his time at Chin Chin.

Q-and-A.jpg

Later in the evening, after most guests had gone, both Ben and Melissa were still both freely available and happy to chat when we approached them and so we had a nice long conversation with them at the end on a number of topics, but especially food.

It is our vegetarian son in law's birthday tonight (Weds) and Ben was kind enough to suggest a dish for us to cook for him complete with cooking tips. The recipe was in the Chin Chin Cookbook that each guest received on the night.

However in the end I had to prise my wife away as I had noticed that the barman had poured a line of shots (see pic below) for Melissa and Ben to enjoy. On asking about the shots Melissa told me that the Tequila Shots were a little tradition between them.

Great report. I still remember a meal I had at Chin Chin with Mrs SS on a visit to Melbourne in May 2014. No other AFFers in attendance?

Not on my table at least, or the several others that I chatted with.

One of the two Amex reps who had flown down from Sydney was ecstatic to have had at last a flight again. She was originally from Singapore and also so gave me some travel tips including for Taiwan.

and much better than the free $1 size from 7-11 on the Gold Coast with a petrol spend...

With what looked like a brand-new machine installed at that outlet provided one of my best cups of coffee this year, and I wasn't even after one but eagle-eyed partner spotted the offer sign. :D

Don't have LL on any cards although I did use that offer in March. Remember to ask if you can't see any Coles Myer GCs on display.
