New Amex statement credits

PSA: If anyone used multiple cards to make multiple $200 transactions (and hence receive multiple $50 credits), check your online account.

I had 4 of my $200 payments refunded (it appears as "Revoke" under Status in my online account).
I had made a total of four $200 payments (in advance) and a 'split' $200 payment (consisting of $81.45 as payment towards a a due bill and $118.55 as a top-up of account credit).

So it appears that they (GloBird and/or AmEx) are restricting the offer to only one credit per account. The T&Cs don't specify this so it's a sour taste that's been left for sure.

Do we take this up with AmEx or GloBird?
I've sent you a PM

This is why I would never touch Placie. Sorry you had to go through this.
Ive not had this with Placie What Ive had on Uber in Adelaide is just browsing, then suddenly driver NOT BOOKED is on way then charges a $10 Cancellation fee which they said would be refunded to Amex, never was For $10 I dont need this stress or dis-service Caveat Emptor with Uber aka Useless

Can the hotel offer used if I book through hotel collection and pay at hotel? This time the term & conditions didn't mention about restrictions.

It looks like the Hilton and Hyatt offers can also be used for the bars and restaurants if not staying, unsure about IHG as the wording is a bit more restrictive.
Unless I've overlooked something I think it's better to use at restaurants with these offers unless the rates allow for payment when checking in? Terms says "for payments made in-person at the front desk or at participating bar, restaurants and spas..."
When booking stays at the cheapest rates, it's usually non refundable and that means card is charged instantly so it won't satisfy the terms I believe?

I believe prepayment (booked direct) do count. Pretty sure I’ve done that with one or more offers in the past.

Anyone with contrary experience please chip in?

The Hilton one specifies the qualifying spend must be at a single property and implies online payments do not count.
$300 must be spent, in one or more transactions, at the same participating Hilton property to receive one $60 credit
This is different, for example, from the terms for the Hyatt offer.

In the past, prepayments have worked, however, these specific terms were not present in when that has occurred:
Offer valid for payments made by 31/07/2023 in-person at participating Hilton properties in Australia. Payments must be made at the front desk or at a participating restaurant, bar or spa within the property.

Used the Hilton offer successfully last time around - Booked on the Hilton website as normal, in the special request box I say that I want to pay the room rate using the eftpos terminal. Got the HH points and nights as usual, credited the cashback in 5 days.

Posting this so that others may be able to benefit, if not already. Whenever my room fee has fallen short of the Amex promo I just ask the front desk to charge my portfolio up to the AX trigger value due to some reason. This is usually upfront upon checkin but can be done at checkout. The reason could be for many reasons - eg. proposed F&B, work min spend due to budget or even min AX spend promo (use your imagination here and adapt). Upon checkout I request that the balance be refunded to my credit card. Importantly, when they ask for my credit card, I ensure that somehow it isn’t available (more imagination required here) and I refund to something like a 28D MC.

I’ve done this many time across all the hotel chains for all the AX promos over many years. I’ve only ever had one or two hotels that weren‘t accomodating (pardon the pun).

I've prepaid to get Amex credits for stays outside the promo periods, at the Crowne Plaza ASP and more recently at the Holiday Inn Express in ADL and it was a tonne of hassle. Neither would process a payment over the phone. Both required me to fill out a form to process the prepayment - something about security/privacy for my card details.

In both cases, I cancelled for genuine reasons but only the CP ASP would refund to another card, and that was because I had closed down the Amex that I used for the booking, and even then only after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing. The HIE ADL flatly refused when I asked for a refund to another card citing money laundering (also a reason suggested by the CP ASP). The statement credit was then reversed by Amex.

Mrs Happy Dude has often bought stuff at Bunnings with one card and then refunded to another as she just whips out whatever card she grabs first or catches her eye, but has sometimes been told that it has to go back on the same card. Seems pretty hit and miss.
