New Amex statement credits

The Hilton offer currently states that payment has to be made at the front desk. Has anyone tried booking online with it and still being eligible?

I do this all the time via fully flexible bookings well beyond the Amex promo expiry date. I just ring the property and ask them to charge my card now, and just before the actual stay (but crucially within the cancellation limits) cancel the entire booking. Or if actually staying, reduce the number of nights to meet the spend threshold.

If not staying and just taking advantage of the rebate, just book it at least 3 months out as cancelling much earlier might reverse the rebate. Spread this across all Amex rebate hotel chains “offers”, across all of your Amex cards, and do so a few times a year per the Amex promos and you might just come close to recovering the amount of money they make from selling your data.

I ended up going with Hyatt which also had a requirement for it to be in person. I booked a prepaid rate last night but wasn't charged. Called up this morning and asked them to charge me now so I can get the bonus.

Was charged but no Amex notification :(

Edit: Came through 3 hours later!

Lots of offers today - far too many to list - for dining and not only in Sydney. All expiring end of August so I won’t be using any as I am overseas all month.

Yep, I meant to post similar. Generally 15% back. Some min spends some not.

Not seeing any on my cards. Perhaps targeted realising I don't live in Sydney.

It’s targeted according to the city you’ve registered in.
I got dining offers in Brisbane on some of my cards.
Maybe Perth is not part of this month’s promo.

When you say registered in. Do you mean registered for this promo? Or just what Amex has on file as your home address?
