New Amex statement credits

Not in so many words, but it is a possible side effect of the interchange rules.

They obviously make money from issuing them. So if the rules change I'm sure there will be some new product made available to ensure that bank profits keep rising.

Plenty of new offers today - most should interest AFFers;

Qantas - 350/50
BP - 40/10 up to 3 times
Hilton - 250/50
Luxury Escaapes - 300/60
Mantra - 500/100
Aveda 75/15

Enjoy!

I can find all but the one I want most - BP - 40/10 up to 3 times. (That is BP as in petrol?)

Can you provide a link please?

Registered my two AMEX for the QF offer. Redeeming these credits will be my first QF purchases since the previous spend 700 get 100 back AMEX offer from before Christmas last year.

Used the BP offer this morning; perfect as I was near empty and I happen to pass one on the way to work.

Well not Quite as BP are an expensive petrol retailer, where fuel is commonly 4-8c more expensive than the likes of Coles/Shell & Woolies/Caltex per litre, but nonetheless a good offer of $10 off a tank of fuel which would be silly not to take up.
Obviously don't live near me. While BP has never done anyone favours with its pricing, around me, Coles has in the last couple of months been more expensive than anyone else, even after the 4c discount.....

I reckon Amex Connect will not be much longer for this world if the banks stop issuing companion Amex cards.
I'd be hoping that Amex Connect offers would help encourage banks to issue co-brands. With the changes in interchange, I see more of these types of offers in the future to help counteract the decline of reward programs.

We can certainly hope....

The Price leader in the petroleum industry is United and the Independents.
Only when a BP is in close proximity to either of these two is BP found to be competitive.

On my drive to work I passed the BP, Caltex, Shell and a 7/11. All the same price. I can either save 4c/litre at Caltex, or $10 (ie 25%) at BP. Cant complain too much right now.

Maybe, but you asserted that BP was more expensive than Coles

Where I live that is not the case, and Coles has been 5 or 6 cents higher than BP in my area. There's a reason the ACCC are watching the price of petrol at Coles....Coles' petrol pricing under ACCC scrutiny

With Coles/WoW they are hard to beat once the 4 cents/litre discount is added to the 5% discount gift card (purchased with Amex of course).

It is the exception that proves the rule - with a Metro petrol station having the petrol prices at 103.9 for E10 from May 20 to June 2. During that time the other petrol stations went from 129.9 to 113.9cpl.

Nothing beats a 25% discount though!!

4 cards registered and jerry cans at the ready. As a financial exercise I visited Bunnings when they had them for under $15. On basis that quite often with the price cycle - we have to refill at 'costly' times. So whenever relatively cheap prices are around - they get filled up.

They paid for themselves within the first 3 times they were used. That is five weeks after they were purchased - those long drives to Saturday school sports for an 11am game through Sydney traffic sure burns the fuel. Best saving per litre was 27 cents from price they were filled up with to going rate available.

Well thanks for your insights!

I'm intrigued to learn in which geographical area where BP is the price leader, what area do reside in?
