New Amex statement credits

I decided to give Placie a try again

booked BNE to CBD first guy arrived and asked once in the car what the code was,
gave him what I had and he said no you have to pay me direct its not working I said let me know so then booked a second one 13cabs
got to Hilton and he said no
don't know anything about it have to pay me direct so and to fork out amex card
disaster!

It’s a well known scam. You should have told the driver no, I will pay you nothing extra and let the Hilton concierge deal with him.

Which service provider was this on? !3cabs, ola, didi, etc.?

This is why I would never touch Placie. Sorry you had to go through this.
 
I thought the Singapore was targeted at me as I'm going next month and thought Amex were getting very clever
Same! Im going next week and thought wow did they get this from my plane ticket purchase. Until I opened the offer and it was already maxed within 1 hour of receiving the email :(

i was curious too - the wording of the email - and just one week after booking flights to Singapore
 
I've found with cabs and Placie, you have to tell them it's charged 'on the booking account', as it doesn't show payment details, but when they close it off it submits it for payment.

Placie has been great for me when using Didi instead, as the driver never expects actual direct payment. (Sounds like the one above was having it on, though!)

Wasn't happy with the price Mantra wanted with membership so spur of the moment booked through Qantas Hotels on my business account and received better pricing. Immediate notification I'd used my Amex Qantas Hotels offer. I'd forgotten all about it, never thought I'd use it. Nice $100 credit for a $510 booking.
Got me checking my cards and another I might have forgotten, Vinomofo, spend $299 for $70. Nice one to stack with a VM offer.

Finally this morning I can report Amex credit came through for all 8 Harvey Norman gift card purchases. A reminder the offer closes on 31 March.

Plus I think you will receive 9 points/$ spend on the triple points promo too!

You won't earn points/status with ALL when you've booked through Qantas Hotels - it's one or the other. They usually don't extend benefits of ALL status on third party bookings either... one of the many things they do to try and encourage you to book direct!

I figured that might be the case. I am unlikely to earn enough Accor points to retain any status. Thanks for confirming.
Just checking the link up doesn't affect your Qantas earn when staying in an Accor hotel?

It does if you're at the appropriate tier (check the Qantas website and put in your QFF and Accor tiers and it'll tell you what's possible), but you have to book direct with Accor.

As QFF Gold with Accor Gold and accounts linked, I can earn 3 QFF/$1 direct into my QFF account when I book direct, for instance, along with ALL points and status with Accor. You just make sure your Accor number is linked to each hotel stay, and the QFF points land within a week or two of when the hotel points hit your ALL account.

EDIT: Actually, looks like even QFF Bronze can earn points when accounts are linked. Status just impacts some of the other earnings.

Globird Energy - 200 / 50

I have this offer on all my cards so will be getting a quote!
PSA: If anyone used multiple cards to make multiple $200 transactions (and hence receive multiple $50 credits), check your online account.

I had 4 of my $200 payments refunded (it appears as "Revoke" under Status in my online account).
I had made a total of four $200 payments (in advance) and a 'split' $200 payment (consisting of $81.45 as payment towards a a due bill and $118.55 as a top-up of account credit).

So it appears that they (GloBird and/or AmEx) are restricting the offer to only one credit per account. The T&Cs don't specify this so it's a sour taste that's been left for sure.

Do we take this up with AmEx or GloBird?
