Not sure if it's been discussed, but I'm seeing a pop-up about a "Daylight Savings" promo coming 3-7 Oct.

Maybe they realised what a flop member month was....
I think the offers I listed are the Daylight Savings offers, at least they are the offers that appeared when I clicked on that link.

No doubt Queensland will be excluded.

Hardly Amex's fault you lot can't fall into line with the rest of the east coast on DST!

Hmm but the "3-7 Oct" mentioned would suggest otherwise. Let's see what comes of it in two weeks.

Got them. Never heard of them. Pretty much guaranteed I’m never going to use them.

Is it just me, or do half the offers seem to be for from random, unknown businesses? Or have I just got my head stuck in the sand these days?

Perhaps that's the point. For brands to raise their awareness with new customers and tempt you to trying them.

Maybe… but the more cynical part of me views it as AMEX attempting to prove the “perceived” value of the card, i.e. “Look at how much money we save you through our great partners and frequent cashback offers…”

Certainly not suggesting I’ve never received any value out of the offers, but they’re more miss than hit IMHO.

Do we know who wears the cost of these offers? Is it Amex or the vendor? Or some split?

I think the consensus is that the vendor wears the cost of any offer that's specific to that vendor, and fair enough as it's essentially a marketing platform for them. To be fair, I think I have actually benefited from them overall and genuinely discovered new vendors as a result of these offers (and also spent more money), despite most of them being misses.

My Mastercard (Westpac Black) has as much value, more if you consider it is accepted everywhere, than my PE as both have the same transfer rate to say KF. I know the earn rate is better with Plat cards for instance but I don't know if I can justify the annual fee.

Plat Debit card only makes sense if you make full use of the benefits...

$450 travel credit ($850 for those with grandfathered free Reserve)
Free Accor Plus membership (worth $300+)
2 x Priority Pass memberships
Plus marginally higher points earnings & ability to transfer to a large number of airlines

If you don't travel enough or cannot use the perks (eg travel is paid for by work anyway) it doesn't really make much sense
