So most of you guys would have received your 2011 Year End Summaries - who has quickly crunched the numbers to see how their annual pts earn might look under new earn rates?

My total pts earn will decrease approx 45% for similar spend - Cent retention certainly questionable now.

1% airline, 4% travel, 1% Restaurant, 19% merchandise, 4% Fin svcs, 71% other!!!!! Total around $700k

I'm going to need to start eating a lot more to keep the points up lol.

Actually I've just opened a signature select which will be getting lots of use from October

Better eat loads at mcdonalds!

Or I could really live the dream & eat at the Hogs Breath Cafe which is also on the 3 points list:idea: Probably only need to eat there 5 times a day everyday to make up for my lost ATO points

I don't know the full list of bonus point "restaurants" but surely AMEX can't be taking it seriously if places such as this are on the list. There wouldn't be too many Centurion cardholders that would set foot in these types of joints.

As far as I knew, any resturant that accepted Amex was on the list.

Me and my +1 have discovered that we get more points under the new system.

We were shocked when we logged in and saw 100,000 when we thought there would be 50,000 (we don't pay much attention the points balances - we usually just freak out at the bill which is enough to perform an instant command+Q). Quite happy to see some great bonus points... I bought a Mont Blanc wallet not long ago and realised that I had thousands of points added - turns out they are a points partner with a good earn rate.

(Note that we hardly use our cards for bills, taxes and utilities - most is retail).

Gee haydensydney that would really hurt my family. I am staying with Citi Select at 1.33/3.33(for overseas) true points per dollar on kris plus Amex Ultimate 1.5/2.5(for QF charges).
If that is a premium card you are being tested!
If you stay you will need a lot of three point transactions and then put the half point stuff on a second card which is a bit inconvenient.

I'm not the biggest points chaser though Cove - though we may consider the situation come renewal date...

A night out and we could totally change that (points chasing) haydensydney. I did a night out with an AFFer in Adelaide and I think he is still smiling.
The drinks help a lot.

Spoke to Ace Insurance this morning re the complimentary Centurion Insurance.

I thought comp Insurance had been watered down a la Plat Cards - but I was assured NO change to Centurion Insurance - if you simply hold Centurion you ARE covered for all international travel etc regardless how you sourced your travel - whether paid travel on Cent or any other card or on points - I was assured you ARE covered.

Also covered are Supp Card holders and your spouse and children under 23yo I think - but don't quote me on the age with that one.

I did receive the 24 page T & C's which I will read maybe tonight.

At least thats one + for Cent.

Still trying to work out what is the correct policy for the Non-Cent Supp cardholders - they get a platinum card which according to the T&Cs receives all the benefits of a normal Plat card. But then I've heard for the insurance it gives them the Cent cover. Can't find any information anywhere on this and wondering of anyone has got a confirmed answer?

It is so damn confusing - I called my RM with Cent months ago and he told me there were changes to Cent comp insurance - yet ACE the insurance providors tell me this morning NO CHANGE to Cent comp insurance.

Really if you are paying $5k for a card that's the least you can expect
