Yes absolutely no change - if you hold Cent - you are covered for all the benefits incl international travel insurance regardless of how it is procured - paid travel / redemptions - and makes no diff which card you use to pay for said inter. travel.

ie - I hold Cent, Select and WSQP A and V - I can redeem SQ J Saver redemptions and pay the taxes and fees with WSQP A to get double pts - I can pay the hotel accom o/s with Select to get 3.33 KF pts - and the Cent comp travel insurance still applies for entirity of trip.

So with less than a month til new pts earning structure kicks in - this I think will be my card usage pattern going forward:

Centurion
- Restaurants - 3 pts/$1
- Flights - 2 pts/$1
- Hotels - 2 pts/$1
David Jones Amex
- Supermarkets - 3 pts/$1
- Service Stations - 3 pts/$1
Westpac SQ Amex
- ATO - 1.5 pts/$1
- ALL other AMEX - 1.5 pts/$1
Citi Select
- ALL non AMEX - 1.33 pts$1

I am solely chasing SQ pts - AMEX and Citi give me options - WSQA clearly sweeps straight to KF.

Am I missing anything here guys?

For taxes with the latest ATO fee on Amex I have switched to Citi Select from Amex as the price difference is just too big to ignore. It is 0.48% for 1.33 points so that is 0.36 cents versus Amex at 1.45% for 1.5 points so that is now a biggie cost for Kris points.
I will be in Melbourne Thursday thru Monday for a football game or two.

I've also changed to Citibank select for the ATO one question do they have a section on their website that shows each specific rewards points earned like they do with Amex. I can only find the overall number no itemization. Just want to check that they are giving me points for bus' transactions too rather than add it all up. Although it should be easy to work out with the ATO payments

Have been told by Citigold rep that Citi are heading down path of a global site like HSBC and when that does become a reality this feature will be incorporated.

Wasn't shooting anyone. I was just making a comment that Citi saying they're going down the HSBC path isn't necessarily a good thing. HSBC doesn't itemize points earn either.

FWIW the proposed earn / buy process for MR pts on commercial FOREX transactions is in final stage of testing.

Yes testing - apparently it is being trialed with a small number of regular AMEX FOREX customers.

Initially mooted at 1pt / $0.01 looks like Merchant Services have watered it down to 0.5pt / $0.01.

Just wish they would get their thumbs out of the bums and their minds out of neutral and give is something definitive.

This process if acceptable may decide whether or not I retain Cent going forward.

Just tried to book the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Bangkok for 2 nights in October. Was told by " executive" that the free night for paid night deal is only valid until the end of September. Is this true?

No, it should be valid until end of 2012 at least. The contract for 2013 has not been finalised yet. (Centurion free night)

However, the complimentary third night free is expiring on 30 sep 2012. I think the operator was confused with those 2 offers.
