Japan Airlines is going to launch a 4 times per week service Tokyo to San Diego using Boeing 787 aircraft. That opens up a new OneWorld routing into Southern California that avoids LAX. not sure if AA will codeshare that route as they do with some other JAL routes to North America.

ANA also have a new trans-pacific commencing Jan 11, 5x weekly NRT-SJC (San Jose), using 787.

Shame JAL redemption flights don't show up on qantas.com.au or aa.com ...

AA5906 codeshare does exist though.
