New Oz PM

A new PM! That is the last time I go away!
That would mean Kev is now flying with us again.
I do hope he is getting training on how to handle our flight attendants who in my opinion do a very good job.

And yet because money goes to their Liberal party mates they aren't screaming and whinging like cut cats.

Maybe there should be a reduction in the GST that is paid to WA because of their extra income? Yeah right like that will ever happen, they cry poor and demand extra money like all rich people. Sadly it is too politically dangerous to call them on their greed at the moment.

WA demands nothing more than the GST that it pays be returned to it. As a previous post has said if the ALP were still running the show in WA the royalties would be under their control.

Nothing to do with the miners greed at all. It's more to do with a Federal tax grab on a State owned resource. To try and tart it up as tax reform is total BS it's a tax grab and nothing more to pay for the excessive spending last year. Typical ALP way high tax higher spend.

Perhaps they should've gone after government funded employment agencies, seeing as the former Mrs PM owns a few I couldn't see that happening. ;)

Why not go after banks? Their existence is fixed thanks to the 4 Pillar policy and they make well over 6% profit.

By chance when you're spreading the ALP class warfare mantra do you sing timeless classics like "You won't catch me I'm part of the Union"?

I do find it ironic that arbitrary lines drawn in the sand dictate who "owns" national resources. The state vs. Fed revenue argument and who gets what share is for me one of the things that made the transition to being an Australian Citizen harder.

I just feel for how much more could be spent on benefiting the nation if we didnt have these bloated layers of government for such a small country :(

Good point about the banks.Of course Ken Henry has said all companies should have a super tax applied.
just went to Commsec and their financial information.
CBA reports an effective tax rate of 22.9%,26.3% for the 2008/09 years.
BHP 30.2%,32% for the same years-for 2009 including royalties it was effectively 45.4%.
Seems to me that the banking sector morally should be hit with the super tax before the resources sector on those figures. But yes that would be noticed by ordinary Aussies wouldn't it.Politically not saleable.Better to bring in the green eyed monster and hit the rich miners.

I guess plenty of people don't really watch their super funds because nearly all of them would have BHP and Rio Tinto in the portfolio (banks as well) and Krudd and Co have managed to shaft them with a nice juicy pineapple. So not only are job creation opportunities stifled in the short term but they are messing with retirement funds.

Here's why we like to hang onto our funds.

Cash threat to WA in health deadlock | Perth Now

Nothing like reaching a consensus.

If the health reforms were so great why did KRudd/JG need to offer so many incentives to get the states to sign up, they should have been happy with the great package.

It seems the reform is only in who pays the bills and the feds wanting to get their hands on the GST revenue.

Once "incentives" were offered I knew it was a labor con job!

The gang of four has become the effective gang of two now that Tanner is leaving by not renominating.Kim Beazley watch out for Kevin wanting that Plum job.
I hope the bad blood caused by Kev going just becomes part of our history lesson that you get elected in your seat and not elected PM.Australia is not the US.
All this means that two of those four will be traveling back with us.

I doubt ex PMs have to travel at the back of the plane.Especially those who by reputation are a little pedantic about meal service.;)

Spot on.
The sooner the State Governments around Australia are eradicated, the sooner we will benefit from better Gov't and Utilities.
It was because of State Gov'ts that each state had it's own sized railway tracks, insted of a uniform track across the nation etc, etc, etc.

Cheers Dee

When I said the former PM would be flying back with us I meant no more private/RAAF travel and back to commercially bought tickets like QF J class domestically.

Conspiracy theory :!:

Oz has been pushing hard for a position on the UN security council and there is a good chance we will get it. Who better to fill the position that Kevin without portfolio :?:

I wonder if our new PM will bother calling Bob Brown as our Kev did not call nor meet.
it is pretty scary having a big group of Labor MPs being either lawyers or unionists.
That is not saying the others have much talent.
Now if we could halve their numbers and double the salary maybe we would get better MPs.

You shouldn't believe the propaganda of the WA government. There is the biggest load of BS. Try talking to someone from NSW. The truth is that GST grants to the states have always been weighted to the advantage of QLD, WA and NT so that these "states" get more than the amount of GST collected in the state. and that NSW and VIC have have been getting less than the amount of GST collected in their states. Any reduction in GST payments to WA is only to bring it back towards the amount that the state pays. Sorry WA is not being ripped off.
