New Qantas London First Lounge + other lounge upgrades

There’s supposed to be [a First Lounge] opening [at LHR] this year. I asked about this during my visit, and the lounge staff advised me that this project has been postponed. I’ve been reaching out to Qantas corporate communications for weeks to get an official statement, but haven’t gotten one.

You wonder if other airlines can have a dedicated F lounge for their own F pax, why can't QF do the same?
Sure - this is an outstation and not a home lounge, so not quite apples to apples, however BA have a CCR in SIN.
I doubt they would make their reason public.
It’s in the article. They don’t won’t a nook, they want something similar to SIN or LAX. Ideally with direct boarding from the lounge. But currently no spare space (in what is a hodge podge legacy terminal).

I suspect a few have tried to encourage BA and AA to consolidate (like they have in JFK) and free up some space.

What are the chances VS consolidate with their ST buddies somewhere else….?

The other airlines in T3 that have F lounges have both their F and J lounge within the same area, most with a shared front desk.
There isn't a lot of unused space in T3.

It is possible they are trying to take over the space currently used by a pay in lounge 1742879971362.png

Given the layout of T3 I'm not sure where they can have direct boarding to the plane from the lounge, unless they take over the Emirates lounge near gates 1 -5. And that is v unlikely to happen.

The rest of terminal is mostly narrow concourses (often with low ceiling heights) with no room for a new lounge.

I do wonder where they initially thought they could place the lounge.

The long term plans, at least when they knocked down T1 and rebuilt T2, was to expand T2 out and eventually knock down T3 with T2 becoming a T5 like building with remote concourses. 1742894046413.jpeg

Has there been any recent indication as to when/if this will happen?

I suspect there will be no further terminal works until a final decision is made on the third runway which has had plenty of back and forth over the last couple of years.
