New Qantas Lounge Heathrow Terminal 3

Ditto again :)

It's a really nice lounge. Was there just as it opened in the morning in June and it felt like such an oasis... what a lounge really strives to be.

I was still disappointed I didn't get to try the QF lounge though. Especially as my flight home was on QF-EK and that meant I only had 1 lounge choice.

I'm going to piggy-back this topic to ask a little advice on the reality of a possible lounge crawl at LHR, hopefully including this new QF lounge, if open by the time I'm there in the latter part of September.

I'm flying BA into LHR T5 arriving on the 21st Sep, around 6AM. I connect to a BA codeshare from T2, 3 hours later. Coming back, I arrive on the 25th Sep into T5 around 5PM, and depart 3 hours later from T5, on BA. I was hoping to visit this new QF lounge and the new(ish) CX F lounge in T3, preferably on the evening departure. Is this feasible, or do I need to wait until I have something departing T3 to try CX/QF? On past visits, I've not had any any real inspiration to leave BA Galleries First in T5, so I don't know how complex it is to move between terminals, airside. If it helps, I'll just have a shoulder bag or backpack with me.

I can't imagine it would be possible, and certainly wouldn't be game considering you only have 3 hours. I would save the crawl for when you are departing T3.

... so the only real cost to QF would be the charge-back for QF passengers using the BA/CX lounges ...
It was suggested in the prior thread re this lounge that the cost of this for all lounge eligible PAX on QF was great enough to justify the expense of QF constructing their own lounge.

I do note that QP members currently get to use the CX J lounge before a QF marketed flight. (ISTR until recently it was the AA A/C.)

Ahhh, Heathrow... where a three-hour connection is still too tight to have a look around! :D

Agreed, the CX lounges are going to be the go-to for savvy travellers - CX have set the bar pretty high for LHR T3, even their J lounge is impressive.

Flying out tomorrow on UL to Colombo from Terminal 3 - both of us are WP flying J so I take it that CX first is the way to go? It was a Qantas award flight.

Definitely, but doesn't hurt to check out the CX J lounge while you're there too... but when I went through both lounges were almost empty (I was rather early for my flight, as I had work to do) and it was wonderful, having the F lounge almost all to myself. It's not large but is very thoughtfully designed.

I've done the same flight several times. The CX F lounge is probably the best. They have a proper dining area with menus, nice showers, not a bad lounge at all. The BA lounge might have a some higher end drinks choices (eg whisky).

Check-in for UL at LHR T3 opens 4 hours before departure.

CX F lounge is excellent with great food. Wines are ok. After meal, switch to EK lounge.

Is BA still pretending to have an "exclusive" F dining area? It used to make me smile after BA had all but moved out of T3 but staff would insist on an F boarding pass to enter and then present the exact same lounge menu.

Last few times I've been through there, nobody has checked my boarding pass before entry into the F dining room.

Champagne is just another aspect of their approach to P1 - instead of genuinely new benefits they just take stuff away from WP :)

They're called enhancements! Giving you more freedom of choice !

Same. The Princess is ecstatic that I will have an excuse to skip all that F lounge nonsense and shop at Chanel, Hermès and at last Louis Vuitton in T3

And to note, because the UL check-in might not tell you, there is a separate premium security screening section at LHR T3. A J-class BP should work. From memory it's up the escalator near the UL check-in desks and then turn left. It's not well sign posted but it might save you a bit of queuing time.

At checkin just now UL gave us an invite to the BA lounge. I 'inwardly chuckled' and told MrP to forget it. It's Cathay F lounge we were heading for. And we were welcomed gladly. Yeah.

I'm flying out of T3 in November and will have quite a lot of luggage and have to be at the airport by about 8.45 so want to stay at Heathrow - reading up it seems there are no shuttles from any hotels. Any suggestions?

Isn't there a 'hotel hopper' or something that costs GBP5.

Note that all public transport around a defined airport precinct is free.
