New Qantas Toolbar - Earn Bonus Points just for searching

Just racked up my 150... just as well as the end of the month is nigh.

Found a random list on the internet (Wikipedia this time) and just searched the list items in turn. On Chrome and Firefox, you can assign a keyword search so you can process all of these searches without needing to take your hands off the keyboard.

I have searched for the same thing many times such as AFF to log on, my bank for online banking, type in "Google" plus more. Even variants such as Bunnings, Bunnings Mile End, Bunnings Kent Town etc. Get a point each time.

Hmm thats good to know... well it seems to be working differently for everyone but if i can get some repeat points in thats gonna make it easier next time round..

One list, five family members, seven hundred and fifty points per month, nine thousand points per year...... but zero ASA's in three months time

Don't worry about it, it seems to work no matter where you live.

A couple of accounts seem to be blocked despite legitimate searches. The toolbar company has a really fantastic algorithm that seems to block real searching!

I managed to get as far as 8 qualifying searches before the 'sophisticated algorithm' decided my searches planning a trip to HKG later this year and SCL/LIM in 2015 weren't legitimate. :evil:

At least the 200 bonus points posted.

I just typed in the search word "illegitimate" and got a point

Their support services are absolutely hopeless. I tried getting my account reinstated nearly a week ago and 4 email's later still no action.

We use sophisticated algorithms to determine valid searches in accordance with Yahoo! If you are not credited for your searches it means they have been flagged as invalid. Please understand that the current status is not permanent. You will receive credit for your searches if you continue to search naturally throughout your day.

Mrs Buzzard asked me if I was just searching for cough to get a point, so I typed in "Find cough" and got a point

Did get an invalid search warning the other day but all subsequent searches have been credited - sitting at around 60 at this stage. I get the impression if you search for the same thing too many times (or even twice) it doesn't add but doesn't stop future searches either. IMO not worth trying to "rot the system" for what is essentially pennies.

Do you mean actually credited to your QFF account or just the green congrats message? I have a feeling that getting the green message will not necessarily mean points end up in the QFF account, but I guess we will all find out later this month.

I've played this game previously with AA. Just because you receive an "infraction" for a search they deem ineligible should not affect your crediting at the end of the month...
