I had a paxing FA sitting next to me on one of my flights yesterday and we were chatting about the new uniform. Seems everyone is very excited about it, except the more fuller figured FA's.
Final alterations are being done. She did remark that the uniform and new badges are somewhat devoid of the QF logo though

lol I did say to my travelling companion on the way to HKG last week "I wonder what the fuller figured QF staff think of the figure snugging new uniform". I didn't use the word fuller figured at the time but it is certainly a politer way of saying it.

I was talking to a FA this morning and she mentioned that the uniform is very tight across the chest and when she asked for a bigger size was told 'it fits' and it's supposed to be a close fit across the chest. She didn't sound impressed! Although she said it did look good, but she was worried how they would work in practice.

"Close fit" and "tight" are not necessarily the same thing.

The fitting tailor should be sent packing back to school.

Maybe this is a subtle hint to all the "fuller figured" (PC) FAs to shape up in QF's effort to square up with the competition (it is still - and I don't share this opinion - widely opined on forums and other social circles that QF FAs are in general fat (blunt) and not as good looking compared to the competition, and especially in the domestic arena).

Definitely anat01! It's similar to designer looks and a workable uniform :-) hopefully after the 12th dec QF will iron out any difficulties and the staff will be happy!

Perhaps it is a QF enhancement? Or maybe so the chest becomes more prominent?

In light of the current social media campaign is running about foreign investment in VA, we thought we'd start a little campaign of our own.

Also involved are LiamR and Dzinh. Thank you for your support.

Good! I hate over branding. The uniform branding projects I worked on I have ripped off as much as possible. Too much = tacky. I like the subtle points to QF branding devices with the colours and shapes.

I don't need 40 logos to remind me I am flying Qantas when I'm in their terminal and on their plane :)

JQ desperately needs an overall (they look a notch above tiger who barely seem to have a uniform) and VA will be looking at theirs I suppose in a few years.

For those who remember the brief return of Australian Airlines on the A330's several years ago, I still maintain JQ should have uniforms like they did; trousers and polo shirts pretty much. Looked very smart in the ochre colour they used, and was perfect for the 'leisure' airline they were.

Mind you, the staff on AO seemed much happier to be there as well. The JQ International crew i've travelled with always seem very perfunctory and don't smile much; the Asian based crew seem guilty of this more so from my observations (or perhaps they're sick of WP's on JQ35/36?).

Were they designed in Essendon? ;)

They just don't look very comfortable they look very tight and not sure if they would be comfortable to wear for long haul flying. The flight attendants wouldn't want to put on any weight in those dresses cause all your bumps would be on display.

Personally these uniforms lack class and scream LCC!!!! (Ah well, I suppose it now goes hand in hand and is a reflection of what Qantas is going to become)..:-|

Go the Bombers!!!! lol:p

You cant tell that they are navy..

In person I don't find them as dark/black as in photos... that said, I'm yet to see the trench, even saw an FA on the skybus in the new uniform, but no trench. Same one as in the advert for gift cards on the home page.
