New Star Wars film *** Spoiler Alert***

While I enjoyed the movie, the cynic in me can see it is Ep 4 all over again.

Desert planet, young kid with mysterious missing parents, finds a lost droid with top secret info, well equipped but clueless bad guys chasing them, many battles and explosions, the Force, meet the rebels, easily blow up another Deathstar, get instant "new" family, but take off looking for someone else they have never met.

I liked the "oldies" being in there to link it up.
Some cameos from both old characters and new faces, Simon Pegg etc mentioned above, and including Carrie Fischer's real life daughter, wearing the Leia hair buns.

Han will be back as a force ghost to stop Kylo/Ben killing somebody maybe Leia or Rey.
Rey's parentage will be revealed in Ep 9, with maybe a plot twist.

Gotta hand it to the long ago space ship and robot builders, the Falcon, Artoo (despite having the sulks) and C3PO still going strong after 70 years!! And X wings and Tie fighters have amazing aerodynamics for space vehicles.
And why was C3PO's arm red?

Saw it yesterday, good film, a must see on the big screen.

Can't say I was part of the "OMGWFTBBQ" crowd however it was a good film, albeit somewhat predictable and copied from E04.

Love your avatar. I can't read the writing but if it's the same as the T Shirt, it's very funny.

I wore the T Shirt when I saw the movie on Sunday.

I wore the T Shirt when I saw the movie on Sunday.

My husband wore the same tshirt on our Christmas morning flight because other pax are generally miserable and that disturbs him :)

My husband has succumbed to the hype and we are going to see the movie tomorrow but one of my nephews, who has no concept of what a spoiler alert is, already told me about it so Im only going for the gold class menu goodies.

I can't quite make out the avatar. What does it/your t-shirt say?

Finally saw Star Wars yesterday. I enjoyed it. Yes very similar to e4. What I can't believe is that they killed of Harrison Ford. I hope his ghost makes an appearance :) in the future. Effects were fun to watch.

I Find Your Lack of Festive Spirit Disturbing.

Christmas day 2014 we had 2 flights and we found most of the pax were miserable and we were the only idiots wearing Santa hats and enjoying ourselves so he decided to ramp it up with a tshirt and Santa hat for Christmas day 2015. He also gave away 40 lindt boxes to staff and crew.

Thanks for that. I will try to remember to post a pic of my t-shirt. ;)

Maybe more "Bah Humbug" Types are attracted to flying on Xmas Day ??? ;)

Saw it Boxing Day - had been avoiding this thread since it appeared so now I'm back at work (don't tell anyone) I can comment. Luckily I never heard any spoilers, seeing as there is a big one in there, I'm surprised no one gave it away: "Luke I am your father" style.

I enjoyed it. I saw the original Star Wars as a kid but only saw the other two on TV years later. I can't bear the prequels - every time they are on TV I try but give up - too much stupid CGI with creatures and droids running everywhere in every scene. From what I have read I'm not alone.

Anyway I wasn't sorry it was a simpler story which did feel a lot like the original as a reboot but there's nothing really wrong with that. Of course there are plot holes everywhere but this isn't an art film, it's entertainment so just go along for the ride. Mrs Warks always makes comments about direction and the limited ranges of some actors after seeing this sort of movie. I never notice - I just follow the story. As long as I don't get bored I'm usually happy with a movie - mind you I don't see many.

Funny I couldn't help but think that Rey had to be Luke's daughter or some lost child of Han and Leia and yet when I looked up reviews and comments after seeing the movie I found articles like "One fan has a crazy theory that just might be right about Rey" and proceeds to detail the conclusion I'm sure everyone over the age of 10 reached during the movie.

Oh and some of these spaceships could use a form of radar to detect incoming ships when they get within a light year or at least a kilometre so as to avoid being surprised which happened I don't know how many times in the movie.

I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.

Im going to say I found it a bit cheesy but still enjoyed it but.. yeah, cheesy.

At the end, what I got from it is Leila cheated on Han with Severus Snape to produce that kid and Luke is hiding out in Maui.

Other than that, Disney - enough with the Coles/Woolies products! I saw Star Wars oranges yesterday. Ridiculous!

I saw it in Singapore (with Chinese subtitles, but are they really needed in SIN? Everyone speaks English). Enjoyed the film immensely, however a couple of things rankled me. I found Fin to be an annoying character: trained from birth as a trooper yet able to put up somewhat of a fight against a Jedi. Too much of a stunned mullet expression most of the time. Rey is a good characterisaction, well acted and got the mix just right there. Ok so Han turns up at Mrs GoggleEye's castle-pub, the First Order follow behind of course and blow the place up ...and she isn't really upset? I'd be pretty dirty on Han.

I was shocked at the major character death, just wasn't expecting that at all.

Also note there is a full-size replica of an X-Wing at Changi, very cool display. The whole of Singapore seemed SW-mad, it's everywhere over there.

It's breaking all sorts of sales records and it hasn't launched in China yet apparently (or has it?) That will be huge there. A bit of a different world to 1977.

Or they just miss their families and would prefer to not be flying.
Or they have their own problems?

Seriously why do people expect others to walk around with a permanent smile on their face?

Anyone seen the kylo ren emo twitter account?

Han has minimal to zero ability with the force. No chance of doing one of the ultimate powers that not even the emperor was aware could be done.

Rey's parentage will be revealed in Ep 9, with maybe a plot twist.

Luke and leia got drunk one night and remembered the first deathstar.

Darth vadar built C3-PO after all. The falcon is a mon calamari freight and they build the best space ships. I suppose maintenance doesn't go amiss. I guess x-wings and Tie fighters have similar aerodynamics to a harrier.

My speculation is that Finn broke his brainwashing because he has strong ability with the force. Kylo Ren so far seems to be struggling with the force. That an untrained "girl" can beat him probably explains his anger.

Sorry it's the Emo Kylo Ren twitter account. @kylor3n

yeah well DARTH VADER never SHOT his PHONE to get out of a conversation with his son, DAD

dear diary
i think my voice is changing
but it could be that i'm wearing a helmet with a voice changer now

A definite to Severus Snape, my wife who is a Harry Potter tragic couldn't believe the similarity. Luke might be hiding out in Ireland rather than Maui

Kylo Ren was laughable.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw a young Severus Snape

I really enjoyed it; ok, some similarity with the first one but it was a blast. Far better than the last three.
