Thanks for the heads up - managed to book Novotel Langley Perth on boxing day for $99! From what I've read, that's pretty cheap for Perth!

If considering sofitel T5 LHR be very wary if arriving early. I asked for early check in (off QF09) if possible at time of booking. Sofitel spammed my email with lots of unwanted 'offers' but made no comment re early checki in. On arrival the receptionist mentioned that the request was on file but it would cost and extra GBP60 to check in before 1400. I asked why if the room was empty. In reply I was told "because we are an airport hotel with rooms used during the day". I then asked where I could have a shower and change into clean clothes. I was told this was not possible for another 2 hours (when the spa opened). Not good enough for an aiport hotel where customers will be arriving from 0500 off long haul flights. Not good enought for a top of hte range hotel but what I am coming to expect from Accor hotels

managed to book for Hobart & Launceston (Mercure) during Christmas week..
luckily waited for a week b4 friends finalized the itinerary, if not we will ending up @ YHA
