Surely it's only a matter of time now before this is universal.....

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Wash you mouth out with soap, and a billion hale mary's.

Universal ......... noooooo, just no

NO!

Ah huh - read it early this morn on WeChat FT forum - total ban all devices sticks out like dog's balls.

OMAAT reports the ban is about to be extended to flights from Europe to USA...

Surely it's only a matter of time now before this is universal, like the LAG ban. No doubt some of the more authoritarian AFF members will be ecstatic at these developments :)

Only if you let it impact you. There are always alternatives.
Perhaps you could help me out there then John in in the examples I gave above? Working in a lounge - sure - you the provided pc's IF they are available. On the plane on a long flight? and just saying 'don't work' is not an option. That is not a choice. Ensuring the computer isn't damaged in the hold? And laptops must be taken for work so not packing them again is not an alternative. And we've found taking presentations on a flash drive is not possible as computer security amongst our clients means that we are not allowed to simply plug a flash drive in their high security machines.

All very reasonable reasons.

I'd have to laugh at the security ability of a company that is using one of their high security computers for presentations by external people. If they're really switched onto security, surely they'd just get a low security computer that is not connected to the secret stuff for presentations.

That is true but then they'd be buying a laptop just for someone external who travels in by plane. Maybe they will have to do that in future. But they could rightfully say it's not their problem. Maybe they will develop throwaway computers. One time use only

So happy that my days of lugging camera / computer around the world are over. These days it's only a phone... and if they canned that - I wouldn't be upset.

You'd lose all those lovely photos you just took!

I like having a proper camera on board. A telephoto lense makes all the difference to aerial shots.
Interestingly when I flew out of Noumea last month I was asked to confirm that I did not have a computer in my checked luggage.

US and EU officials have decided against a ban on laptops and tablets in cabin baggage on flights from Europe.

As a leisure traveller that flies hlo, this ban doesn't affect me like it would for the business traveller, however is still a major inconvenience. Not being able to take my beloved Dslr with 10-24mm, 18-200mm, and 35mm f1.8 lenses is a major drawback not to mention an iPad for communication, research and updates. But not having to carry everything around is also a little appealing and would imagine it somewhat liberating, if by the time I go on my next adventure the ban is in place then I have already found my new accesory ExoLens – Professional grade photography for your iPhone and a new phone to with it.

US Homeland Security Secretary Kelly has told Fox 'News' the ban may be extended to all international flight to and from the US because

Terrorists are "obsessed" with "knocking down an airplane in flight.
