Good evening all,

Just asking for a friend, does anyone have a clue when the next Qantas DSC can/will happen? Kinda remember pre covid they had one around late Sept/Early Oct.

Thanks.

While @WilsonM is probably right, I secretly hope that the incoming CEO is tempted to launch one as a sweetener, a "welcome gift" to thank for the last rusted ones for their loyalty.
As much as I feel like they need to do something - I would guess they would look at another round of point flight releases like they did earlier in the year.

One of the problems QF has right now is that it likely has too many people holding status. With the rollovers and freebies of late, there is probably a bit more than their usual amount of status holders. Having more status offers to prolong that doesn't necessarily help their cause.

They also know there's a glut of points out there which they would like people to use up some. Problem is, even for frequenet flyers and seasoned veterans its hard to use the points right now. Imagine how it is for the general public.

A "free" flight is much easier to get people to try and use QF again and give it another chance than something like spending money to utilise a double status offer.

That's just my 2c

I think that's a good point.

Plus, the airline's reputation is trash and brand badly tarnished.. but one area QF is probably "less" worried about in terms of this are the elite tiers due to the "status handcuffs" - now don't get me wrong, you lose a Platinum member and their revenue it's far more important than the once every two years flyer, but there's probably some thought (arrogance maybe?) that if the elites are still elite by now (and spending) then they will stay that way most likely after everything.. and as above, those who have left and not spending, then a bonus offer isn't likely to get them back (but maybe some great fares might?).

Plus, and let's not forget this, the CEO is the head of the company. I doubt she worries about such things - at best it would be line items in presentations from Loyalty. Now, they may pitch various options of course and the senior team may even make decisions, or at least green light it, but I doubt the CEO herself would push a specific thing like a promotion down the line -seems a little too granular to me.

That aside, it seems to me that the goal is to get trust in the brand back and confidence from customers. Status Credits aren't the way to do that.

Anyway whenever I see a thread like this asking when I think to myself that well.. it will arrive when it lands. I hope one lands for those that want it, but as usual I never expect or factor one in to my own plans.

Elites who are still elites by now .... are likely to be about half-way there because of free SCs (ahem.). A DSC would be very handy for me so I could retain OW Emerald with a relatively tiny spend; I'd jump at it.

In one of the many "will/when there be DSC next" threads I think there was a timeline; the last H2 one was a part of the apology campaign, and there was possibly one other H2 one in the before (COVID) times (if memory serves).

I didn't get either the 20% target reduction or a rollover like those who ended through June, and was expecting a targeted DSC offer for those with Jul-Dec year ends before the 20% reduction and profit gift SCs came out. Now I think it's unlikely.

I predict a month or two of quiet on the PR front, as the stories settle, then something for the mass market around the Christmas season - whether an award seat drop, points planes, or similar. As others have commented, DSC seems to be used to stimulate forward bookings, likely business, so perhaps later in the FY (if at all).

Yes there was

The pattern was once a year (with an occasional added bonus)

The massive profit and the departure of the CEO tend to operate in opposite direction

I note the Red E-deal fluctuations and now not on sale but still kicking around at $130 Adel-Melb
$179 Adel-syd and $150 Syd-Melb suggest some softness going forward

It’s like you sharked the early profit so the punters ran out of money to fly again !
That said Points Vlub members get classic reward status credit earns so there’s that too

Of course with LTG one hardly needs book a paid fare - points fares and free lounge is the bonus!

I doubt most the LTGs are that motivated to self fund LTP!!

I can say with 96% confidence that the next one won't be until March 2024. It's been a while since they deviated from offering it in Feb/Mar each year.
